Still got a real bad gut feeling about this ! I hope this Mr B will be at the end of season do ,would love to ask him a few questions !
I thought today's Watty Obs would perhaps carry a proper story and give more details - perhaps they are waiting till everything is finalised - if so it means they are just going to give positive spin - the only time to ask searching investigative questions is BEFORE the deal is finalised and we find ourselves owned by a former bankrupt who has companies fold like there is no tomorrow
Was chatting with Aberdeen last night and he thought that the good Lord may even be lending Mr B the money (at high interest) which would claw more money back for him....and that the club will be saddled with this
I'm not sure that would be legal - if he has a personal debt with Ashcroft it is not for the club to pay it
I am begining to suspect that we may be barking up the wrong tree here. All of our interest has been in Mr. B, but the man fronting it all is the good doctor. Why? There has to be some plan to earn money out of this deal and apart from selling players there is not a lot to be earnt from football. Until we hear more of his involvement I would want to reserve my judgement.
Well - one thing is certain the supporters are not being involved in this - for us it is just a fait accomplis
You are right Leo, but how many times do you hear that when clubs are in the process of being sold? It seems strange that despite the fact that clubs are Ltd. Co.s or PLCs the title of Club remains. Depends on which dictionary you look in, but most would say that it is an association of like minded people who can meet up to share in a common interest and become a member of.
Norway I don't know, just wondering out loud I suppose. This has been going on since early December and just about every name under the sun (sorry to use that word) has been mentioned. My only surprise is that you, me and Lenny haven't been put forward as possible owners. To my mind there has to be a plan, but what it is has not yet been revealed. Mr. B in that really bad interview said that there would be one and we would be pleased. He came across as a fool with too much to hide, but was that the reporting of a bloke who was embarrassed that the WO knew more about him than he thought they would? I don't know, just random thoughts.
If he is the main man heaven help us, but every other name from what we do know seems to be respectable.
I am sure that the highly respected Panos Thomas would prefer to safeguard his reputation in the medical field and not be associated with a conman or very shady deal. I cannot believe that he is thick!
Agreed someone who is a leading light in his field is no way thick , (but possibly naive) I think his angle is a state of the art sports injury clinic at the vic!! which would be a good thing especially with the olympics coming up!!!! But this sort of vision requires a heap of finance that at present we dont know about! You couldnt have written this better in a book ,a knee surgeon a del boy a solicitor and an ex major! You cant tell me they are in it to help WFC , Therefore what other common links do they have apart from making money?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/mar/18/digger-watford-owner Now I,m even more concerned although it states nothing new ,at least some journos are having a go though!!
Norway - I have to admit to being torn between 'why does everyone think that they have the right to know everything about his private business?' and 'why the cloak of secrecy?' All I know is that I'd be disinclined to place my trust in someone with such a dubious record in terms of financial dealings. So, yes - I'm worried too. The second part of that article, on Wallsall, was interesting too, with its obvious Watford connection. I wonder how much his father ripped us off for.
Why oh why is the Watford Observer not investigating this properly - does anyone know how to get in touch with Ollie Phillips - he must have some kind of connections still
