The lines are already looking drawn for the season with the bottom six as it stands looking set to be the league at the bottom in the same way the bottom five last season battled it out for survival. Those thinking we are top half material should forget it, our defence is our Achilles-heel and we'll be deep in the mire by time we can strengthen. Whilst I'd like to be optimistic I think we'll be in the bottom six whatever happens...

The lines are only looking drawn by the pessimists on this site.

We know we can play well and we know we will find our rhythm.

If the lines were drawn like this every year then Everton would have been relegated several times over just in the last five years.

Head...........Buried...........Sand!

Please explain the shortcomings in my post.

I believe you are expecting Hughes to get things right, when all the evidence thus far points in the opposite direction. We have never been above 17th in all the time he's been here and he hasn't won an away game. I fear you are a little deluded, but I understand completely the wish for stability. Trouble is, I believe relegation would be a complete disaster.

I think relegation would be the end of this era for us and so agree.

I think he will turn it around (if TF gives him the chance) and will keep thinking that until proven right or reality catches up with me.

I actually feel less frustrated with today than Monday. We had 60 good minutes (interspersed with some shocking defending).

I also agree that we'll need to change at Christmas if things aren't happening.

That's reasonable Matt and if Hughes does turn it around I will be on here and begging forgiveness for doubting him. I think some people actually think that those of us who are unconvinced about Hughes would like us to keep losing just to be proved right. I can assure you that I want us to start picking up points more than anything. Watching the disappointment on my lad's face after every result is torture, as is the relentless piss-taking he receives as the only QPR fan in his school!! I worry that Xmas may be too late mate!

I'll also agree that xmas cut off isn't set in stone - we should't and can't end up cast adrift at the foot of the table.
