The Hydro is certainly nowhere near the top of my favourite venue list either, but a vast improvement on it's predecessor the SECC which was truely soul-less. However, some bands can pull off venues like this with ease, and Gorillaz last night were no exception. Unfortunately, the bigger bands rarely play the smaller venues - 10,000 fans with cheapest tickets £55, the maths wins every time, even taking into account the overheads, they're probably pulling in half a million for the night - not bad work if you can get it!
I meant the O2 london, bitch to get to, too big, no atmosphere and **** sound

I know pal - never been myself, but can only imagine it's not the best - bit better now that the night trains are running I'd expect, but still a pain. Used to love Hammersmith Odeon and Palais when I was younger, can't remember ever going to anything at Shepherds Bush Empire though....went to a few gigs at New Cross which was a bitch to get to if you don't live out that way. Luckily, Glasgow is 25 miles away from me now, and is a small enough city to get around easily with loads of really good venues.

Was great - forgot to ask you, how was your trip to Auld Reekie?

It was great mate, we all had a fab time.

Got quite a lot in including Scotts monument (jeez that gets narrow, had to leave the missus on the 2nd level lol), the zoo (had to be done, 1 of the party is obsessed with Pandas.... Took over 5 hours before one appeared!), the castle obviously, late night ghost/murder tour (brilliant but effing freezing.... Had to leave 20 mins from the end to get the missus into maccyDs in the train station to warm her up), walk up to Arthurs Seat, my first attempt at an escape room (out in 45 mins.... Result!), Camera Obscura, numerous pubs (obviously) and several cracking meals including a superb steak at Kylos.

Luckily the weather was really good most days, even had a day in t-shirts!

Great trip, will go back again sometime.

Again, thanks for your recommendations and tips :emoticon-0148-yes:

Was online buying tickets earlier, and saw that I had been to over 100 gigs in last 6 years....

And thats only the gigs that I've bought tickets through Ticketmaster, so I could probably at least add another 50 - holy ****, that's a lot of dosh spent!!!
