Thats exactly how I felt when Lennon died - I was only 12, and remember being devastated as thats all we used to listen to in the house. Me and my mum cried until my dad got home from work - think they showed Yellow Submarine on BBC that night as a tribute..?

I remember that day so well also, heard the news from the owner of our local general store who was a well known prankster, I said 'Pull the other one it's got bells on' but then someone else came in and said 'Have you heard John Lennon's dead?' My daughter was in bits when I got home that evening, we had a video of Yellow Submarine that we used to watch and sing along to, she's since told me that day was one of the most devastating of her life, just shows what music brings to us but they can never take away our memories...

Saw them on this tour in 1973 at the Fairfield Hall in Croydon, we had gallery seats behind the stage, the only time I've seen a band from that perspective, they played a great set. David Byron, the lead singer was a great frontman and, as you might expect, died from rock and roll excess at just 38...
