The Happy Mondays are staging a comeback, releasing details of a UK and Ireland tour of their greatest hits.

The veteran pioneers of the Madchester sound of the 1980s will be driving around the country in November and December this year, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album.

Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out) - yes, that's the album's full title - was launched in 1987, and later inspired Michael Winterbottom's 24 Hour Party People starring Steve Coogan.

The film told the story of the Manchester music scene and the famed Factory Records, which launched artist such as Joy Division, New Order and Happy Mondays.

In an interview to NME magazine, Happy Mondays founder Shaun Ryder said he was working in a solo album, but was "going to do a Happy Mondays album first".
