Juniors trying to talk me into walking home from mcds when we get off the train In his ****ing dreams
Yes, heard it a few days ago and been on my playlist quite a bit since. LIke how they are quite hard to pin down and experiment with their sound often.
Cracking song … EP drops June 13 and should be very interesting. Lucifer on the Sofa was a good album so will be intriguing to see where there direction is leading them. Agree Steels, they are hard to nail down in sound (which I really like). Felt a bit of Kraftwerk influence near the end mixed with the heavy drum beats. Not afraid to change the focus of their sound on different instruments or sounds too.
Two gigs this week, of very different genres.... First up, off to the beautiful St Lukes tonight, a converted church, to see the Hot 8 Brass Band. Great fun, guys from New Orleans doing their own stuff and a pile of covers...
Hot 8 Brass are awesome … really wanted to see them in Bristol but couldn’t make the date - gutted. Enjoy Steels. Will be a blast
Just home. Seen them before at a festival so knew what to expect, and it lived up to expectations. Really nice guesture, a couple in the audience had got married earlier today....they got them dancing in the security pit and sereneded them with their version of Sexual Healing - crowd loved it.
Can anyone tell me why it’s such a sin to cover this song? I recall a similar hullabaloo when Paul Young did it back in 1683. Yeah, it’s a good song, but not the best. Is it simply because Curtis killed himself? Are we not allowed to cover Nirvana songs or remake Supermarket Sweep as well?
Possibly because the Gallagher brothers are odious twats that I wish would **** off up their own assholes. Steelsie posted before me, I had started a post (see above) but thought I wouldn’t send, but it had saved, so here it is. But what a soulless and tuneless version of a very good song. It takes the talent of a Britons got talent failure to do such a lame version
I made no comment about Gallagher’s version, just about covering the song. There used to be a similar thing around Zep’s Stairway back in the day, too.
There have been some memorable covers, Fiona Apple version of my fav Beatles song comes to mind but you have to be careful to take on a classic or in fact anybody’s favourite tune
