Woahhh, very angry statement from the board of Salisbury City. A lot's changed since they wear tearing up the Conference with Matt Tubbs. http://salisburycity-fc.co.uk/
Couldn't remember the exact thread it was being discussed on, but can someone explain a bit more about clubs and FFP? Why is it more of a hinderance to teams like us instead of the big clubs?
Because FFP limits how much you can expand spending on wages. If you already spend a fortune, you just have to maintain that, but if you come up from a lower league you can't compete. You cannot add enough to your wage budget to bring in the players you would like. Or something.
Shame for Salisbury! Does go to show that corruption is rife throughout the whole of the Football system!
I don't know the whole story and although there probably is truth in that statement regarding the leagues and the FA, I can't help but think that he hasn't done his club any favours. If Greg Dyke does live in a village just outside Salisbury, they should be camped outside his house, politely asking for an hour of his time.
To put it in simple terms, it fixed all the clubs in their current financial positions when it came in. Teams with bigger fanbases, bigger stadiums, more commercial income, etc. earn more and therefore can spend more. Clubs with less income are not allowed to have outside investment, so are basically stuck in a situation of having less income. The only way they can spend more in order to chase the big boys is to earn more, and without outside investment that simply comes down to selling more tickets, gaining more supporters and so on. Essentially for a "smaller" club to become a "bigger" club, it will take years and years of making all the right financial decisions and punching above their weight on the pitch, in order to somehow gain worldwide reputation. At first look it seems like a pretty fair system, but the fact is there was a small group of elite clubs before it came in, and it's just locked them in place, with no other clubs able to bridge that gap without outside investment.
Ridiculous really. Baffles me that these people are still in charge of the game. An already monopolised sport is going to become even more dominated by the same old faces.
Yes, thought that was a bit Mutch myself. Wish someone else had said it, and spared me the indignity.
