We never do that. It's always around 11pm so the press can't put it in print the next day.

So 11pm for Dusan? I was also thinking no news today so that Kelv and MLT limelight was not taken away. SW really thinking new signing is very very imminent, a record breaker.

Plus, what else is Puel going to say?

I mean, we could sign 5 players tomorrow and for sure none of them would play on Saturday, and mostly likely not the next weekend either (unless it's a brief 15 sub apperance). He's happy to start the season with what we have, because he has no other choice but to start the season with what we have. He's not going to be like "Yeah, we're short some guys for sure. I'm not very happy and I think we'll get maybe 2 points from our first 5."

Will be glad when the transfer window closes - this has been a tedious non-event; rather like reading a poorly written book or watching a badly scripted movie; you are hanging in there just hoping that some nugget of enlightenment or pleasure is going to burst out of page or screen - only it doesn't.

The club have made a very healthy profit again on transfers which is great and there is a chance still that the elusive nugget will be found, but am at the stage where I almost do not care now - I just want to get down to the sports bar in my nice new Saints shirt; drink ice cool beer and watch my beloved Saints play great football and forget, for a time, about this transfer window. The club wants to state all is fine and we can finish higher than last season and make big inroads into Europe this season - that's fine indeed with me because they know what they are about and I am very grateful for that. I am the atypical armchair expert - I fully accept this and I have been proven wrong many times on here but this squad, as it stands, does not appear stronger or better than last season and there is so much to play for.

Here's hoping I am wrong once again - enjoy tomorrow all - cannot wait - COYR!! :emoticon-0100-smile

I just don't relate to this feeling Romsey. Some people seem to get swept away by the transfer window and the belief that it means you must spend millions. They say they don't expect this, but they behave like they do. They seem to get effected by the zillions being spent elsewhere and just don't understand the understated way Saints go about things.

I will read transfers out being cited and profits in abundance from transfers as a reason we should be spending, but I firmly believe the club only sell when either a player really expresses a desire to go (Mane) or if we don't feel the player is what we need now (Pelle). They just happen to carry both these disposals out in a very strong, profitable manner. I'm sure they'd rather those wanting to leave would have wanted to stay (both Mane and Vic were offered new deals).

We have a model and we stick to it. Fans really should know by now and accept that is the way we work. We don't panic. We brought a new manager in 6 weeks ago and why fans expect him to come in and splash out loads of cash on players straight away bemused me. If you joined a new company as a boss, would you come in and change the staff immediately or would you take time to look at what you had? Football does have time limitations in the form of a transfer deadline, yet we haven't reached that deadline yet.

I absolutely believe in a non happy clappy way, that we are doing it right. The new manager is only 6 weeks in and is looking at what he has. He'll then bring in what he needs and that doesn't matter if it is a £2m bargain or a £20m record signing.

A non-exciting transfer window is a good transfer window. It means we have solid stability through the majority of the staff, further enhanced by all the new contracts.

Dare I say this: Cast your eyes across to Spuds. Poch seems to be quietly doing his thing without rushing out and signing loads. I think he learned something during his time with us.

I do agree Fats, but i don't agree all fans should accept the model. Someone on here once told me to stop behaving rationally and allow people to be fans...

    Wonder who that was !!!

Hey, that's ok when it's suits my line :)

On accepting the model, let's be honest.. What's the choice? Maybe I should say understand, though I think it should be accept. There is of course a strong chance some fans genuinely don't understand what we do and how we do it.

Agree with you FLT for the most part. But the comparison to Spurs is slightly tenuous. They were one central midfield player short of really challenging for the title and they've bought in Wanyama there to cover. You could argue for much of last season we were a right back, central midfielder, and wide player (when Tadic went missing) short and we've replaced without strengthening in those positions.

Spurs have a net gain of one first team player (or challenging for the first team) whilst we have broken even. Would you agree?

You're right on a number of levels, but people are different and we don't all think the same. And you are right that some just don't get the model. My Aunt would suggest they be just plain dumb.

I once had a g/f who suggested I use the word 'could' more in place of the word 'should'.

I told her she could not continue to be in a relationship with me anymore...

It is interesting how the majority of experts(pundits) seemingly give more credence to the events of the transfer window, than the events of last season.

Reading the odd preview and three of the best performers of last season(compared with expectation) Leicester, Spurs and Saints are all expected to sink multiple places and the only logic is that the superstar managers at City, Utd, Chelsea & Liverpool cannot possibly fail after making multiple big money signings.
