Will be a big test of Leicester's resolve. They've allegedly told Mahrez agent that they're not willing to sell this window.

I said at the start of the window that imo it would be foolish for Kante and Mahrez to turn down the offers that were inevitably going to come their way. I didn't see anyone coming in for Vardy due to his age and having just signed a contract, but he has turned down a move. Can't see Mahrez doing the same, he must realise that his stock has never been higher and could almost have his pick of the top teams.

Or he could stay with the League Champions, and show a bit of loyalty (don't laugh).

It does seem fear (described as confidence) is the main reason for players to request/demand moves

Rumours of another contract extension being confirmed today? My guess is Cedric.

To get to the top (ie Premier League) you need to have a lot of confidence in your ability and a lot of ambition. Playing for Leicester was almost certainly never his end goal, playing for someone like Arsenal quite possibly was and he appears to have the chance to, he may not have the chance again.

Someone on SW saying there will be a contract extension today. Says it's not Fonte or Cedric but they are likely. Guess it must be Tadic if true. :)

I'm all for contract extensions, but what has Cedric really done in a Saints shirt to warrant one after only being a year into his current 4(?) year deal? Can only be a pay rise in line with other first team players

Had he fulfilled his ambition of playing for Arsenal (or Chelsea) a year ago, he wouldn't have a league winners medal now. And he may never have got the chance again.

That would be good news. Think it's just as important to tie down the first team players to long term contracts,as it is to make new signings. Not only is it good for morale, but it also means that we will rarely get into the situations as we did with Wanyama, where we have to let players go for half of their true value in today's crazy transfer market.

For those people who are upset that we let Mané go too cheaply (£34m) in "today's market".

Imagine how Bayern will feel letting Hjobjerg go for £12m.

He hardly ever played for them. He is more comparable to our Gallagher-situation.

Ie: Young player with potential, but will he ever be good enough at our level?

Mane is, in this insane market, a £68m player about 20% of the time. Which means Liverpool have got themselves 1/5 of a bargain. The other 4/5s of the time he's a £10m player, so (maths getting stretched here) even if he becomes 100% more consistent, we still come out on top 60% of the time, and by a greater margin.

I need to do some work now.

Yes. I think he's going to be superb.

But then I am a happy clapper :)

(I take your point on the first part).
