Agreed. I'd say Romeu also provided a bit of wow every now and then. Not that it is a DM's specific responsibility

Perhaps a DM's job is to know when to be exciting as his main job is to cover the back four....has to be better able to guage the right moment, as he may have to cover for the nutjobs further forward.

Tadic can be frustrating particularly when he holds play up instead of playing an immediate release that seems obvious to me watching on a stream 450 miles away, however, how many players that can kill a defence off with just one pass are there around? And how many of them are only £20m? I think I read somewhere that only Ozil has more assists than Tadic since he joined us. Selling him if he hasn't asked to go would be on the daft side of sensible if you ask me.

I'll be pretty pissed off if we sell Tadic. No more outs for me.

    Don't think we will though.

Ok here we go with the "black and white". Yes any player can produce a wow moment. Even Boruc tried it :)

Shall we say that players like Clasie are less likely to and not really in the team for that? Is that fair comment?

Harsh to judge a CDM like Claise hasn't provided any wow moments.

I see what people are saying about Clasie, but with a full pre-season behind him, I think this year is the one we can really start to see what he's all about.

Last year was the icebreakers and "getting to know you" sessions.

Agree with the sentiment FLT. For me the 'wow' is when over a number of games that the goals against are low or nearly no existent, or when teams resort to long balls from the back because the midfielders, particularly the DM's, have stamped there authority on the game and nothing is getting through to the centre backs.

So its not a single piece of skill to create the 'wow'.

Finally, on reference to the Claise/Morgan debate, Morgan, for me, was much more about his reading of the game, quietly positioning himself such that he is able to slow down the opposition, turn them to delay and look for other options, prevent the through ball - just making things very difficult in front of the centre backs - the breaking up play was the ultimate killer move but he did so much more off the ball. Clasie, again, is a reader of the game and operates in a similar manner to Morgan, but has yet to make the final step up to much that Morgan contributed - perhaps the difference is in physical presence and the physicality is the limitation that Clasie is still coming to terms. Still time to become very good for us.

I also think Clasie chases further forward than Morgan. Two subtly different players, although the Morgan we had was the better player.

I'm not criticising Clasie. I think he's been pretty good. But to say that we shouldnt expect him to provide any 'wow' moments is a bit strange IMO. Look at players like Kante, Fabregas and Wilshere. All very exciting players at DM.

I think Clasie is capable of stepping up his game. He just needs more confidence. I know this might be an obvious thing to say, but I think someone of his size will take longer to adjust to English football than others, especially at DM.

That's my point Black. We didn't say he shouldn't do any, we said its not a player that you expect that from. I'm going to wheel out my favourite name now for a player that does a job unspectacularly, without much fuss.

    Nobby Stiles.

I am just picturing the pass from Clasie through the eye of a needle into Mane/Long against City or Liverpool at home, I think. Great ball. :)

There you go then. So he is capable of it. Therefore I think it's fair for a team pushing top 4 to expect that sort of thing more often.

Anyway the whole 'wow' thing is clearly subjective. I might have watched Nobby and seen a few 'wow's. We all appreciate different types of play.

Can I stop saying 'wow' yet?

I remember saying 'wow' at Clasie, I think it was City or Chelsea at home, when he ran shoulder to shoulder with someone much bigger than him, out-fought him and turned the ball out with a lovely bit of skill.
Wish I could remember the exact game!

I think the biggest problem with Clasie is that I don't feel he offers anything more than Harrison Reed. Would rather have given Reed a chance than sign Clasie.

I think he has more than Reed, but I hope Reed shows a similar level.
