Definitely will have a CAM on the list. Juanmi needs replacing, even though he didn't play, we bought him for a reason.
Found another source saying we are after him, but he's not keen.

Q is , at what level are we looking to replace with, young and hungry, experienced etc...
Been offline for a few days now (in Uganda) - reading through we seem to be keeping our heads down in the buying part of the transfer market; as usual. Am a little disappointed that there is nothing substantive on the horizon although am sure things are happening in the background. (Off topic - love the new shirts; home to the UK at the start of August: will be buying both to take back to Dubai).
I understand what you are saying. That is what our board aim to do. But in practise it isn't as simple as that. The way football is these days EVERY player has their price. Of course our board wouldn't want to sell Van Dijk, but should the right money come in for him then we would. I have no doubt that if barca were interested and offered £60m then he would be sold. Perhaps even for £50m.
I think the new contract offered to VVD shows our intent and his enjoyment of playing for Saints. It also guarantees that he has been priced out of the market...unless the would be purchasers are complete idiots/Liverpool.
I'd imagine that Steven Davis will start first choice and that either a JWP or a new signing of potential will get more time in that role.
Although it was in an advanced defensive role to stop Carrick, I still remember how well JWP played in the first win at Old Trafford.
This is what I'm saying. Without a doubt we do not want to sell Van Dijk. But with the ridiculous money in football these days every player has a price. We would try to resist any sale of VVD and would be able to out price the majority of clubs because of his new contract but he still has a price.
Every club and every player, that is my point. I am not complaining about that being the case, but some people don't seem to accept that unless you are Madrid or Barca (even most of their players have a price) that you will sell if enough is offered.
