I'm not even sure you need to restrict yourself to saying top 6.

Hmm it's hard to judge. At times they were both unplayable. Deeney is strong and good in the air, but his finishing can be erratic. I feel like they could both do a job for a top side, but no way are they worth 30mil+ even in this market. I would have taken it, if I were Watford. - I don't think they would get into our first XI.

In fairness I think Mane, Morgan, Lallana, Shaw, Wanyama and Lovren would have all left even if we offered the sort of money the teams they left for were offering.

Mane is gone. Pelle is quite likely going.

Can't imagine a worse landing spot for him, beyond the money. Ben Arfa gets awfully sulky when he's a peripheral player, and he isn't exactly going to be the brightest star in the sky at PSG.

So, is Puel going to get to spend any money? When Koeman signed we made it clear he had cash. Has anyone seen even a hint we intend to spend top 6 money?

Zlatan signs for United. 34 , 35 in October and still gets a 1 year deal, 200 grand a week. Crazy!

If they're young enough, they're good enough. Or something similar.

The club has spent £109 million ish in the two seasons that Koeman has been here. I would imagine that Puel will be given a healthy transfer budget yet again.

That would be nice. We have a run at a profit recently, but even that should allow £30m bare minimum.

With Europa League Group Stages, I could easily see £60-£70 million spent to add quality to the XI and strengthen the squad depth.

TBF, we are among the biggest spenders in the league, only we recoup a lot of that money (in fact, all of that money :D) by player sales. But in the end of the day, it's how much you spend that correlates with the final league position.

I liked him at Villa, but for £30 million and very much in the Austin mold, I don't think we need him! Would like to see Milik or similar though, but I'd imagine a host of big European clubs will be after him this Summer!

For the numbers that have been thrown around, hell no.

We should never go for players making a 'step down' from clubs that spend huge wages, there's no value for us in those deals. There's appeal in bringing proven talent, but we should stick with our policy of discovering cheaper, mainly european talent.
