Meh. If he can get somewhere in the Jupiler Pro League Europa League play-off then I'd be interested.

I'd go for the raw 22 year old who got 6 goals & 3 assists in 24 starts for a **** Norwich team, over an almost 25 year old one trick pony.

Redmond, although if you twisted my arm I'd say... Redmond

Redmond without much hesitation. Was a good crosser of the ball with Birmingham from what I remember...if he could be encouraged to simplify some elements of his game (say, "beat your man" versus "beat all the men") the talent is there. Townsend is what he is.

It's odd that people are so against townsend considering he has done well when he was given regular football. Seems odd to criticise someone after not getting a game.

After seeing some of his performances for Newcastle my opinion of him has gone up. But I think I would opt for Redmond, though I know less about him. Townsend is ok I don't get the hate.

Redmond. 1 month of form from Townsend is not enough to ignore the one trick pony shoot on sight and minimal assists of the last few years. He is one of those players that looks really showy but has minimal end product. There must be a reason why we haven't taken several chances to get Townsend.

Even so, that's a pretty epic midfield shield rotation, when you can rest your first choice and bring Vic in. Or when Vic gets sent off in a cup game, and you can bring Dier or Dembele on.

I would take Redmond over Townsend, but at their age and potential all you can do is take a best guess. They could both be major busts, tbh.

A little disappointed to only get 11m for Wanyama, but if he was insistent upon Spurs there is not much you can do. Other than put yourself in the strongest position possible should he go, and Saints have done a decent job of that, IMO. Clasie, Reed, Romeu are all decent enough that we don't have to be desperate and overpay for a replacement, if deem one necessary.

He doesn't strike me as the going back type, but Everton? Obviously I'd say a huge yes if we could get him, and Mrs Godders would be delighted, but sadly only likely to be a pipe dream.

So in simple terms, we still have no clue what the hell is going on?

also I may be a bit slow - but why is it sure Redmond is signing? this has been going on for ages, surely he could have a medical and sign in a couple of days?

Waiting for the new manager announcement, perhaps? If so, then perhaps all the paperwork is already done and he could have already signed. I mean, technically the transfer window doesn't open until the 1st July - anything signed before then is just an agreement to sign for the club anyway.

Ok so what do we think we need personal wise to mount a challenge in europe and finish top 8 in the league,

    i'm thinking,

    back up gk
    A first choice rb
    wing type player
    wanyama replacement
    cf

this is based on keeping Mane and l;osing Pelle and Wanyama.

I can see JWP have a much bigger part to play this season and also hoping for Reed to get more game time.

We also need a CB, One that is going to challenge Fonte, Who is much younger though.
