http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...swansea-city-insist-sunderland-target-7366086 Swansea City have no intention of selling Sunderland target Ashley Williams, according to the player’s agent. The Black Cats have already seen a £4m bid for the centre-back rejected by the Swans but that has not deterred the Wearsiders who are likely to return with an improved offer for the 29-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract. Williams’ agent Jamie Moralee says Swansea have made it clear they want to keep Williams and they have offered a new contract to their skipper. But, while Moralee insists his client’s preferred option is to stay at Swansea, the contract extension remains unsigned. Moralee said: “At the moment there have been some bids coming in. Swansea have rejected those because they think Ash is important — everyone’s clear on that. “Swansea are very clear that Ashley is not for sale. “Whatever offer comes in, he is not going to be sold. “That’s the option they’ve got and we’re comfortable with that. “We respect that because he’s their player, he’s under contract. “We’ve got to the point where they don’t want to take an offer so hopefully we can sign the right contract at Swansea — that would be Ash’s ideal scenario. “Ash is very professional and he will continue to give Swansea everything he has. “Sunderland have made it clear that they will just keep bidding and bidding. They want the player and I understand that. “There are two or three other clubs that are monitoring Ash’s situation, but different clubs operate in different ways. “Sunderland are trying to get their business done early, while others prefer to wait. It’s too early for a big decision, but the transfer window has only just opened. “Hopefully things will move along in the next week or so.” If Swansea are unable to agree an extension with Williams, they will have a decision to make. Either they must cash in on the Wales international now, or allow him to leave for nothing next summer on a Bosman free transfer. Moralee said: “It’s like that in football, sometimes things take a little while to happen. “Ash is quite relaxed about things, we’re happy to wait to sort things out. “All three options are still there. Ash could sign a new contract, he could leave for nothing in a few months time or Swansea could take the money and everyone could part ways. “But Swansea have said he’s not for sale so that narrows things down. “I’d like to think that Swansea do not just want to let Ash walk away for nothing. But there is a danger that could happen. “If Ashley signs another contract at Swansea he will probably end his career there. I’d like to think we can reach an agreement because that is Ash’s preferred option. “Ash is back in training now, he will talk to the manager and chairman and we’ll be having talks at management level.”
You know what, I really don't give a **** about Williams, personally. I think it's ridiculous for us to be so desperate to sign him. He's decent, he's also 29, and if we are looking towards £5million, for a player with a year left on his deal that doesn't want to move clubs, then why? I'm just not convinced it's the right way to go, we'd have a big wage as well, we could have went for Lescott, Hangeland is still available, Micah Richards supposedly available for £5million. I'd move on like.
According to various papers he wanted away to Durham to shag Chopra's missus a bit more....interesting really
I just dont rate the lad that highly mate, he's an improvement, yes, but so would Lescott, Hangeland, Dawson and many more be.
I admit Lescott probably would of cost more in wages but would of evened out the fee Dawson would be a fantastic signing for any club outside the top 4 imo Hangeland is past it now
According to reports, Marseille have offered Sunderland the chance to bid for midfielder Mathieu Valbuena as the French club look to cash in on the player. #166649048 / gettyimages.com Valbuena has been one of the stand-out players at the World Cup so far and is currently preparing with the France national side ahead of their quarter-final tie with Germany. Reports this week have linked the 29-year-old heavily with a possible move to West Ham United, but according to The Daily Mail, Sunderland have also been offered an option to buy the midfielder. #151496708 / gettyimages.com The report states that Marseille are willing to listen to offers for the 5"1 winger with a bid of around £8m seemingly enough to enter talks with the player. Sunderland are yet to splash any cash so far this summer, but have recruited no less than four players on free-transfers. There is certainly money to be spent at the Stadium of Light, and Gus Poyet will be keen on bringing in some real quality ahead of the upcoming campaign. Valbuena has spent eight years of his career at Marseille making over 200 appearances and scoring 25 goals for the French giants. Follow the WORLD CUP with HITC Live - click here » He was part of the team that won the French league in 2009-10 and has won the country's domestic cup three times. If reports are to be believed then incoming manager Marcelo Biesla clearly considers the midfielder to be surplus to requirements at Marseille. At the age of 29 Valbuena is running out of time to ply his trade anywhere else but France, and could be open to offers from abroad. Unfortunatley for Sunderland whilst there's no doubt that Poyet would jump at the chance to take the the midfielder, it's extremely unlikely that a player of Valbuena's quality visions his future on Wearside. After such an impressive showing in Brazil, it's more probable that the Frenchman will make a move to one of Europe's more elite clubs. What's this

Queens Park Rangers are set to sign Rio Ferdinand, while they have also agreed a fee for his fellow central defender Steven Caulker. Ferdinand, 35, is expected to join on a free transfer after his release from Manchester United. A bid for Cardiff City captain Caulker, 22, has been accepted but Rangers will face opposition from other clubs.BBC SPORT FOOTBALL Hopefully we are one of the clubs... I rate the lad
We're considering making a 5M bid for Connor Wickham. Thoughts on that? Before the final few games of last season I'm sure you would have snapped our hands off. Now I think you might want to keep him @John__Percy: #lcfc consider £5m bid for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham #safc via @Telegraph http://t.co/BaDJhcs8Rd John Percy is very reliable for us
His in the final year of his contract and Nigel Pearson isn't one for over paying. I think we might be prepared to add an extra million or 2 but nothing more
We've already started new contract talks, so depends what happens there. If he doesn't sign he'll be sold so it's not impossible. I'd imagine we'd want close to what we paid back, which was £8.5million. Did well tying Morgan down mate, impressed me every time I've seen him.
7 might do it. You'll have to wait till his contract talks are out the way but there's a massive possibility he'll be sold. Think you'd have competition for him like.
Wickham potential is clearly there. It's just a case of getting it out of him. He started to look like the player everyone thought he was going to be at the end of last season. So let's see what happens Getting Wes on a new deal is very good business for us. Along with getting Matty James, Danny Drinkwater and Kasper Schmeichel on long term deals. Future looking bright for us Cheers lads and all the best for the season
1 hr · Sunderland turn to Kurt Zouma after missing out on Ashley Williams http://t.co/kp5B4TdBVi 1 hr · Safc's Danny Graham set to join Middlesbrough this week. http://t.co/cIulCPp3Rg
Agree with this ^. Yet again, in Graham we see a shocking waste of transfer funds. Not keen on loans either. We always seem to end up improving other teams players. Needs must though I suppose.
I'm against loans, but I prey we get Zouma. Not next level, up about 5 in one hit. Get a relationship going with Chelsea too, clubs need these links.
