Davis signing confirmed. Leif Davis: Leeds United left-back joins Ipswich Town on three-year deal https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62303632
Sounds like a decent signing is that the end for Penney? To great attacking full backs, will be interesting to see who plays in the LCB position, will they play a as Donacien does on the right...will we even play that system this season. Still definitely could do with another striker and a cherry on the top would be a midfield playmaker
Squad numbers published at last https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport...nounce-squad-numbers-for-22-23-season-9176358
We have liked Penney at times, honest, straightforward, likeable bloke, who makes excellent surges and useful crosses. Hopefully he can be kept as 2nd fiddle.
Experienced cover or a throwback to the old days of signing has-been journeymen?I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and veer towards the former! https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/town-closing-in-on-keogh-9199126
Decent player, although I've never known Ipswich to sign a player of that age that would be deemed a success? Strange one though, not an area I thought we particularly needed strengthening, as there are lots of options available and it's also not an area we appear to need to change as we've been pretty solid defensively. Maybe it means someone is on their way out.
Ndaba almost definitely going out on loan, so we will really only have on specialist CB as cover. Was very dismissive when i first saw this story, but then realised that he played half the season last year, in a division higher, so obviously still retained some fitness.
I don’t hate this transfer, although signing a 30-plus (adopted) Irishman is giving me strong 2013-18 vibes. I guess Keogh adds experience and a vocal presence in the squad, particularly as we’ve come across as a bit of a “soft touch” on the pitch during our stint in League One. Makes sense that he wants to live more local to his family. We often play with three centre-halves, so he adds some squad depth - particularly is Ndaba heads out on loan. I agree that a centre forward should be top of our list and hopefully that’s the next move to be announced. I would be hesitant going into a season with Ladapo, Jackson, and John-Jules, as our centre-forwards, particularly with promotion as a realistic ambition and our prior issues in front of goal.
Only a 1 year deal with Ndaba & Baggott both out on loan getting much needed minutes under their belts. We will (hopefully) have 2 more street wise defenders when they get back. Keogh will only play if we have 2 or more injuries / suspensions. Still hopeful of a striker before end of window
On another match matter, fielding impressive Cup B team tonight. Most L1 clubs would love to turn out these players!
Is a 19 year old loanee likely to be the missing piece? We’ll see. https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/itfc-keen-on-blades-striker-9243818 COYB!!
Sounds pretty decent Bigal, tbh i don't think the type of striker we are craving is out there at this moment in time. Well.....not available at a price we could afford!!
Ben Morris should be back soon. The Simpson saga isn’t over yet. Whether them or somebody else, we might already have the 20+ goal hero somewhere in our ranks. Either way, forking out £££ on a proven young striker would be a very smart thing to do.
