Quite possibly, but he was so disaffected by Cook & Evans messing up, he wanted out.

So Downes has joined Wet Sham, dream move for him.Despite them traditionally being my family’s team (until my parents moved to Suffolk in the late ‘60s)I’ll always harbour a resentment after Pardew’s side mugged us in the playoffs in 2005.

Piggot to Pompey on loan almost a done deal.

No great loss as far as I'm concerned, I saw nothing to convince me he had anything KMc could work with for the benefit of the Club.

Agree Bigal, and of course he is bound to play against us, and actually score a goal!

As it’s a loan I believe we are entitled to stop him playing against us(?)But I agree, how many times have ex-players come back to bite us on the bum!?

Wasn't a bad game 2-1 West Ham with Ipswich making it difficult second half .

Liked the big AstroTurf area kids can run about on at half time .

From the very limited highlights I saw it looked like we were much more willing to get the ball in the box and forward quickly which I think was one of our biggest weaknesses under McKenna last season...fingers crossed that continues

Seems a very good fit, and lots of potential.

Not long till the Off, hopefully a bit cooler!

Train drivers strike on the 1st day of the season, might have an affect on attendance

Looks like a decent signing. For me we definitely need another striker.

If I'm much mistaken we seemed to be trying to replicate our forward like on Liverpool/Man City, with lots of runners with players about 10 years ago who would've either been considered a winger or playing off a big man in a 2 up top. This does slightly concern me, because we're in league 1 and whilst I was impressed with the quality of play under McKenna for me the big weakness was we took along time to get the ball to forward positions and we didn't put the ball in the box enough which ultimately resulted in us not scoring many goals under McKenna...for me it was very little to do with our strikers more the tactic.

Last season a couple of the best performances I saw under McKenna was when we played 2 uptop but after that he changed it to 2 inside forwards behind the main striker and whilst I have always wanted us to play good football from what I saw I feel sometimes he tried to overcomplicate things. It's not an easy formation to play and requires most players to be ontop of their games ...we saw Man United try to play that way the past couple of seasons and fail miserably despite having quality in those forward positions. As I said from the highlights of the West Ham match it looked like we were getting the ball into the box earlier so hopefully that will continue. Just feel we need another bruiser upfront plus maybe a number 10 or a playmaker behind the forwards in midfield, someone to slow the game down

We will.miss him, and he is sad to leave. Such a mercurial talent, that could see passes that us mortals can only dream of.

Next season he will play in front of 2,500 fans, as opposed to 25 000 at PR.

Still not written off as his transfers seem to keep falling through.

Do we think this year's squad is better than last seasons? So since last year we've lost Norwood, Pigott, Bonne, Bakinson, Celina and Thompson. We've brought in Leigh, Ball, Harness, John-Jules and Ladapo
