I've given up on the club making anything other than underwhelming signings for the coming years at least. PSR now has a strangle hold on the club which means they'll have to sell key players and wheel deal for the likes of Billing and other underwhelming players. How many windows do we need to go around this loop ? The loop in which fans go in hoping for 2 or 3 top players and then end up telling themselves they are happy with the plodders brought in? They'll bring players in, but it won't be anything particularly exciting.
If Bruno, Botman, Tripps, Isak, Tonali, Barnes & Livramento are the type of plodders we bring in again then yes I'll be happy.
They weren't in one window and PSR has slowly strangled the club so we can't expect that to continue. The fun is over for a few years. Early on was best we got 3 good players.
It'll crank up again eventually, but people need to realise that 15 weeks isn't going to change much.
Howay man! We've just heard the awful news we can only spend around HALF of what Man City can. The ****ing temerity, the nerve, to suggest FA Cup runners up and group stage UCL exiters Newcastle aren't on a par with Treble Winning (and 14 trophies in about 5 years) Man City...... There's a need to get a grip here. As Obi rightly says, Tonali, Botman, Bruno, Isak and even Livramento are light years ahead of the days of signing - cover your ears - Hendrick, Hayden, Wilson, Fede Fernandez and countless others. We are very aware we've been hampered - as everyone has, look at January - by PSR. But our revenues are outgrowing EVERYONE else's (%age wise) by miles. We're rocketing up 30% YoY and that's likely to be around 40-50% this year because of the UCL, sponsors and Adidas. Despite Spurs having been title challengers, UCL qualifiers, and top 6 finishers for the past 20 years or so, we will be about £100m behind by Jan 2025. That's insane. Our club was bought for £300m at the very end of 2021. At the beginning of 2024, two years later, the club is valued by Forbes at around £650m. I think at the moment we have to wait and see what happens. The Summer should be a bit more shackles off and we need to hope lessons have been learned, i.e. buy for your first XI then relegate those in it, rather than buy subs.
PSR hampered everyone in Jan. They'll change it. If they don't we could still smash it in the summer. They pulled some stunt last week at PL meeting with regards related companies to owners which has Man City ready to go legal on them. Vote was 12-6 but due to 2 abstaining passed.
