BBC : The mayor of Marseille has urged the city's football club not to sign Mason Greenwood after they had a bid accepted for the Manchester United forward. Multiple sources have confirmed to BBC Sport that Marseille have had an offer accepted for the 22-year-old that could reach about £27m. It is thought personal terms have still to be agreed to complete the transfer. Criminal charges against Greenwood, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped in February 2023. Mayor Benoit Payan told French radio station RMC he will ask Marseille president Pablo Longoria not to sign Greenwood. "I do not want my club to be covered in shame," said Payan. “It is not acceptable." Thoughts?
