if it’s the same game, I’m thinking of, he did play well doc… but actually came on as sub as a right cb… got pretty tight to mbappe and never really met him turn. I saw signs that he could be decent on the front foot for us last season but he was a disaster defensively. Lots of potential excuses for him as discussed… beyond the obvious one that he maybe just can’t defend
Regarding Firpo. I noticed him for Betis a good few years ago. He was playing Madrid or Barca and Betis were getting smashed to pieces but the big lad at left back stood tall and they couldn't get past him. From then on when Betis played I kept an eye on him and looked big, strong, quick, got forward. I lost track of him until his name popped up in connection with us. I thought it was great news until I saw him try and keep pace with the Premier League. There's no way back after last seasons performances. The lads gone.
As for Firpo, let's all give him a chance this season. We've all agreed that he was crap last season & there's lots of mitigation to consider too. Bottom line: it's clear he's going nowhere, so he's ours for a season & we really need to get behind him in the hope that we get to see why we paid so much for him. If he fails, it's open season on him. I think the only thing left about him to be decided is just how long we should give him to prove himself. Is it an EireLeeds '10 games'? Longer? Personally, I think I'll play it by ear - unless you all deafen me!
One that's gone under the radar a bit but appears to be moving along quickly now is the winger Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord. Don't know anything about the guy but he's 23 and has decent stats in the Eredivisie.
Stumbled across an American forum last night, and they all to a man, well all 3 of them, would be happy to see Adams join, can't find the bloody thing now to post a link. Thought they'd know more about him than us, whether they know more about 'soccer' that I doubt.
This guy is a left winger does that mean bye bye Harrison? We also have Dan James who prefers left wing?
