Will Leeds try and make a big statement in the transfer market? Chuffed with Aaronson but its like we have a £25m limit when everyone else sees no problems with £35m. Also seems to be a big jump in quality………. Unless you find someone under the radar like Raphinha
Very very lazy and I really don't think this one will happen especially if we're going for the Croatian lad
Rumour on twitter is that Marsch isn't impressed with Firpo and wants to bring in Owen Wijndal from AZ Alkmaar. £10 million release clause is also being mentioned
Latest bollox in the Spanish press is Sergino Dest and Ez Abde plus £25m for Raphinha. Now that I can live with as Dest is worth £20 and Abde £10m but potentially worth a lot more in the future? However
That seems like a realistic offer and might be true cos the club has meant to have been negotiating on a deal to get Abde in.
Exactly this and they could all be more like Rodrigo or Firpo, we really could do with a player or two already settled in England and preferably PL experience
That's exactly what I've been thinking Doc. Whilst paying more is no guarantee of the player being top quality we do seem to have a ceiling and that's a little concerning. If for example we went out and signed Conor Gallagher for £50M everyone would sit up and take notice. Also the chances are it would prove to be very good business rather than spunking £25m x 2 on average players. The option to balance the books is also there whilst we have Kalvin & Raphinha.
Harry Winks can leave for £25m so you could probably get him for nearer to £20m Is that too much to spend to add depth? Apart from KP he would be better than the rest of our midfield and he has plenty of PL experience? How much could we get for Klich and Shackleton, if we could get around £10m total for the two would it make it a better proposition? Number one choice would be Gallagher at £50m but he likes London and I can’t see Chelsea selling
Barcelona are in real financial trouble as Express listed 10 top players who are now up for sale. The players listed will attract the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle witth Memphis Depay and Ansu Faati etc, and thats without Dest, Puig and Abde included.
No idea if this is true but saw on Twitter this morning that we might be interested in Alex Telles from scum and he’d be interested in joining if his Brazilian teammate Raphinha stays. Think he’d be a decent upgrade on Firpo.
understand the Marquee signing concept with regards to attracting other players but I’m not overly concerned by a spending ‘cap’. I don’t know if he have an official ‘ceiling’ but I’ve no problem with the concept. We buy typically pre-prime younger players for less money in the hope they do a Raphinha. Bigger/richer clubs don’t have to take the risk and so buy proven players in their prime. we’ll have our misses, but transfers are risks anyway and this way we can strengthen the overall squad while hopefully increasing the value of it for resale as required. Ie the way you get to balance the books by selling a Raphinha… is to have bought him cheap in the first place. appreciate that’s kind of stating the obvious but I’m fine with the principle.
I’d take Pope in the blink of an eye, it depends on what position for Cornet. Is Marsch looking to play narrower, I always felt he was supposed to be a LB but Burnley played him more forward in front of Taylor I believe?
I think Pope would be a great signing but I don’t think we get Pope without Meslier leaving unfortunately which is why I don’t think we’ll be in for him. More like a proven backup like Foster to be on the bench behind Meslier.
