We shouldn't sell ourselves short too much as our Academy (if run properly) is a big attraction for a Manager that prides himself on coaching young players to improve. I'm sure that would've had a bearing on his decision to come here and all the noises he's making seem to suggest that we will be going back to the youth route.
ericb : Austin has definitely been told he can look for a new club, I'd also heard Long too. Both of these were on Saturday so recent news. Also heard we're going "balls out" for a quality striker.
Sorry MLsfc Ive just got in https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-live-manchester-arsenal-14448318 between 11.39 and 12.47
I was shown a list of the players Hasenhuttl wants to keep, review and drop next season. No real surprises in there but there's a big overhaul planned as others have said.
Yeah fair point, we wernt crap under Puel and did get to a cup final. I do feel it was a step back though after what we had before
The decay started during Puel’s reign but accelerated afterwards. Although the managers certainly didn’t help, the continued selling of our best players added to the problem but for me the biggest issue was the appalling recruitment trying to replace them. This is what this summers clear out is going to try and rectify to free up financial capacity to bring in players that hopefully will deliver
If Ings is in and out, then I'm hoping he will shake it all about and then turn around, 'cos that's what it's all about. All together now ooooooooooooooohhhhhh....
Ralph said after Saturdays game that now we are safe we can get cracking with the rebuild. Rebuild doesn`t sound like one or two out, and one or two in - here`s hoping ! I`d be very surprised if the likes of Cahill and Drinkwater are on Ralphs radar - good players, but too old and not what Ralph is after, I think.
Must be all systems go now...must have been hard to be unsure of what league we'd be in next season. Things now considerably clearer, so things can start to move. This does not mean that I expect any news soon (far too long in the tooth Saints fan for that) apart from perhaps a few young players already here getting contract renewals.
Ralph said his ideal players to sign are someone on their 1st or 2nd contract, which would probably rule out the likes of Arfield, Cahill & Jansson.
I'm expecting to see 2 or maybe 3 new players that would likely be starters although one of them might be the returning Boufal and maybe a few squad back ups too There will be plenty of departures however.
All indications are for 10-12 out and half a dozen in with supplementary players from the academy. Buckle up it’s going to be a rough rid
Players I think will go Forster Cedric Hoedt Stephens Yosh or Vestergaard McQueen Clasie Romeu Davis (obviously) Reed Maybe Boufal Elynoussi Austin Maybe Long Gallagher Carillo
Romeu is a suprise, Beef...I think that he has showed his best form of a couple of years ago since Ralph took over.
Wonder what it would cost to get that ageing winger from Ajax. Goals and assists galore this season, wouldn’t expect them to let him go cheap.
