With Lemina pissing around, Reed should be 3rd choice. Yeah it's a gamble because he might be sat on the bench a lot. But at the same time, one mild injury to either Hojbjerg or Romeu and Reed would really have an opportunity to make a name for himself. Both Hojbjerg and Romeu pick up yellows (and reds) frequently, and on this basis alone Reed would probably get into double figures. On top of that you have cup games, and like I said injuries. I reckon Reed could have been looking at 15-20 games had he stayed.

I guess Ralph sees JWP or Armstrong as able to play a deeper role, or this new fella. Bit of a worry though, considering our defence.

Absolutely...you win and you lose. All teams lose on some players....even the top clubs make expensive mistakes....the difference is that they can write things off easier than us. Overall we come out on the 'winning' side....which is as good as it is part of our business plan. We have hit a bump as we made some expensive decisions over the past few seasons...but hopefully back on track now.
 
I think with the signing of Danso, Ralph will slowly start implementing his preferred system of 4-2-2-2 as he now has the defender with pace and ability to bring the ball out of defence that he wanted.

The front 4 will be between, Ings, Adams, Redmond, Djenepo, Boufal, Obafemi, Long with the holding 2 between Hojbjerg, Romeu, JWP, Armstrong, Slattery, and possibilities of Stephens and Danso.

Looks pretty competitive to me, and looks like Ralph and the club are getting to where they want to be in respect to squad numbers, and room for younger players to impress, especially when the likes of Lemina, Moi, and possibly Hoedt, move on by the end of this month. In an ideal world, we could have done with another DM, but we look a lot better than we did this time last year.

You took the words right out of my keyboard! I think he's going to bang in around 15 goals (not to mention assists for our marauding wingers). He will definitely be a bargain. Most of the other championship strikers who have made/ linked to making the step up to the Premiership this year are quoted at being around £20M, so to get Che for £14m seems an absolute steal. This is a perfect example of why you should get your business done early; as the window gets nearer to the end, the market price of players rises due to the odd silly price (£35M for Iwobi?!?!?!?), messing up the perceived value of players. If we only signed Che yesterday I'm sure we would have been looking at around the £20M figure.

Properly excited about this season. The first bit of real optimism I've had for 3 seasons - bring it on!

I don't think that people doubt that's how he prefers to play. I think they're just taking a look at the backline and thinking 2 CB's isn't going to cut it.

I don't think RH would play a formation just to play it. It's going to depend on the new players, particularly Danso. If they're good, it gives us a lot more flexibility. The way things were last year, we were somewhat hard-pressed even to play one formation/tactic competently, much less multiple ones.

I personally feel like we will utilize the 5-3-2 look pretty heavily to start the season, and then as the season goes on we will start to change it up more. But I don't have a particular preference. Hasenhuttl can play whatever he thinks is best.

Fair point. To use a Koeman quote though, a formation only suggests how they line up at ko. The movement after that sees the shape change. For example a 5-3-2 changes when we get possession and start to move forward. It quickly becomes 3-5-2 and possibly even 3-4-3 as we press on the final third of the pitch

Yep. Agreed. That's one reason why I'm not particularly hung up on what formation we play.

Southampton and Besiktas are reportedly set to hold further talks over a loan deal for Mohamed Elyounoussi, and this could prove to be the best move for all parties.

Fanatik claims that the Super Lig side will push ahead with their pursuit of the winger, who endured a disastrous first season in English football following a £16 million switch from FC Basel.

The report states that Saints are keen to take a €1.5 million loan fee, with Besiktas reluctant to pay for the permanent signing of Elyounoussi just yet.

A move to Turkey is also believed to be of preference to the Norway international, who is poised to reject advances from La Liga duo Sevilla and Celta Vigo.

Honestly wouldn't want to sign him for my Thursday night 5 a side team, so fair play if Ross Wilson manages to get some money back for him.
 
Elyounoussi joins the list which includes the lies of Juanmi and , to a lesser degree, Ramirez and Boufal. It is shocking to think how much he cost and how little other teams value his services. To be honest, I expected him to head back to Norway. Not even sure if he is Championship level. Given the amount of money squandered of exotic foreign midfielders who haven't cu the mustard, we could have bought better tried and tested players from the Premier League. Sometimes wonder what our scouting team is up to - guess that they must be watching loads of mediocre football!

We’ve picked up no decent players from these “mediocre” football leagues. Hope we stop this nonsense
