Yeah I meant 5 for the academy. This Edwards kid, Mitchell, some guy from Yeovil and a couple of others from abroad. Seems like a change of strategy from the club as I don’t recall this many being signed in previous years at 16
What shirt sales are those? ;-) I think the reason some numbers 1-11 are free is because the likes of JWP and Redmond chose 16 and 22 for a reason
10 days of the transfer window left. I had a feeling this was going to be a bad window for us, as to many average players to shift, on massive salaries. The club also made it to clear that they would need to shift these players, to then have money to spend on new players, hence reducing any real transfer fees. I think what will probably happen, is that the Premier League window will shut next Thursday, then foreign clubs will get the likes of Lemina, Cedric, Boufal at incredibly cheap prices/ loan fees. Think most of us expected this, but we are very weak defensively. Fingers crossed I’m wrong.
Panned out kinda how I expected. Really happy with the attackers we've added, but with our raft of CB's here already, I always thought it unlikely we'd add another to the mix. Now its about what Ralph can get out of that rabble, can we coach them to be better & more organised, can we get them all reading from the same page? Its a risk, but with all the big earners sitting tight, its one we have to take. Lets hope we can score, because clean sheets with be like rocking horse poo!
Beef said Ralph changed his mind to join us because he had been assured that he'd be backed in the window. We've only spent approx. £30m so far, so you'd think there's more to come. Here's hoping, anyway.
From memory, wasn't it reported last summer that he was £16m rising to £18m (could have been £18m rising to £20m). Just had a look on SaintsWeb which I very rarely do. One user thinks we're after Tomori on loan. Another said that they wouldn't take Stones over Yoshida.
Yeah I thought it was around thre £20m mark, but my guess (and it is only that) is that with the 100 or so players we have sold Liverpool over the years we would've been due a fair bit of cash from them winning the CL, which was probably written off in the Ings deal. Yes it was money we techinically spent by buying Ings instead of elsewhere but I doubt it was budgeted in when creating the summer budgets as I assume they started those conversations before Xmas.
I think I would. Lemina has more potential and has his career ahead of him, but he doesn't care about us. He also seems to care more about having a famous lifestyle than a good playing career. Schneiderlin has had his big moves and would try for us more than Lemina would. At almost 30 Morgan also has three or four good seasons in him.
He may well have been offered £30m plus retention of all sales revenue for transfers - on the face of it that looked a good amount
I think this is an iteresting enough question to get it's own thread. Otherwise it'll get buried. So copy and paste your answer when you see the new thread
Silva spent half a season fighting to get people on side. Hopefully they have a slow start just for the laughs.
