Squad update: I’ve worked it out to the be 32 senior pros on the books currently. Two are out on loan, five seem to definitely not be involved in any first team activity, giving the current 25 man list (which includes the injured Sam McQueen & four keepers) Green are prominent u21 players GK: McCarthy(2022), Forster(2022), Gunn(2023), Lewis(2020), RB: Cedric(2020), Valery(2023), Ramsay(2021) CB: Stephens(2022), Vestegaard(2022), Hoedt(2022), Yoshida(2020), Bednarek(2022), LB: Bertrand(2021), McQueen(2021), Vokins(2021) CM: Romeu(2021), JWP(2022), Hojberg(2021), Armstrong(2022), Reed(2021), Slattery(2022) AM: Redmond(2021), Sims(2021), Elyounssi(2023), Boufal(2021), Djenepo(2023) ST: Adams(2023), Ings(2022), Long(2020), Obafemi(2022) On Loan - Jones(2021), Rose(2020) Outcasts - Austin(2020), Carrillo(2021), Lemina(2022), Hesketh(2021), Barnes(2020)
Crystal Palace said to have offered a contract to Afolabi who refused another contract with us...presumably because he could see he'd be down the pecking order and wanted game time.
Elyounoussi 2023 !!! Maybe why he was getting games last year Plenty of time for Ralph to work on him ... more in hope than expectation
I've said it before but I really think there's a good player there but he gets spooked to easily and pressured into stupid decisions .
We've done a pretty good job so far of shifting the deadwood. We've managed to get rid of two players, one for free, and the other one quite a few of our fans wouldn't have classed as deadwood. Still there is a couple of weeks left so hopefully see a fair bit of movement on the outs.
They'd probably pay a fair whack too - although I worry he would excel there! Apparently Boca are back in for Carrillo on a permanent deal this time
Could well be, but psychology is as important as physiology in sport, so can it be fixed (I hope so, but don't expect so) Wouldn't you say the same for Boufal? Aren't there many players in the past we could say the same about who never achieved their potential
I think it would be psychologically out of the fat and into the fire. He thinks he’s better than Wolves.
Difference is, we've seen a couple of times what Boufal is capable of. Elyo has shown us nothing at all.
When in reality (based on his performances generally here) he is probably not even good enough for us now.
Oh I absolutely think he is, if his application was there. He could be excellent, but has a severe dose of Pogba-itis. I think he’d be excellent for United or Arsenal, because that’s the level he believes he should be playing at. Wolves are great, but I don’t see he would feel it’s where he should be, so the same problems will exist.
I think that he flatters to decieve and needs too much time on the ball that is not afforded in the PL, a few tricks on the ball may catch the eye but he is not a complete CM IMO, he might be more effective in another league in Europe though. Lets not forget that Juve allowed him to leave for us, they wouldn't have done that if he is as good as some think he is and he is at an age when he should be dominating more games than he does.
That’s application though to me.... ability he’s got. If he applied himself he’d be a top 6 club player in most countries. Feels like he’s going to waste that ability though.
My point is that he looks like a technically better player than he actually is when he beats a few players, I don't think his tackling and passing are much to write home about personally.
