If I'd thought about yesterday's Sullivan interview in The Guardian, beyond how pant wettingly funny it was, I'd have thought that the writer, Jacob Steinberg, had cherry picked the gaffs out of the normal stuff. Hilariously, this is a million miles from the truth. There's reams of comedy gold, according to the writer, who says he had a real selection headache.....Did Sullivan really think that this was going to help?
I've found the exact player that Sullivan & Gold are looking for... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jizz-hornkamp/profil/spieler/185817
Has somebody explained to Sullivan (or Brady, for that matter) that, if you're running a football club, it's remarkably goddamn stupid to throw your players under the bus in press interviews?
Yikes! Even the BBC have stopped parroting the official West Scam line http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42329101 What next? Not allowing Tory councillors to pose as members of the public in the Question Time audience?
"Turning the stadium into a football venue after the Olympics cost £323m rather than the projected £190m, which the review regarded as "unrealistic". In their own early bid to take over the running of the venue, Tottenham Hotspur said it would cost around £320m to knock the Olympic Stadium down and build a football-specific one on the same site."
And our lovely new stadium, with the high-tech retractable pitches, Micro-brewery and cheese emporium will still only cost around £800m!! Bargain!!
Too late to correct matters, as the dive led to a penalty that put the Spammers on course for a win. The impact that one decision could have on the outcome of the season could be immense. And that ****ty, scumbag club get away with a two game ban at worst.
Some of their fans are moaning about the lack of consistency, citing various other dives across the weekend. The rule's exactly what I said it would be. A very selective, media driven band-aid, rather than any real attempt to deal with the issue.
it is indeed, Niasse didn;t dive either, he was blatantly blocked by Dunn when he was sprinting through. De Bruyne started to go over before contact was made, think he'll get a ban, cos I don't. Replays clearly show Pieters went straight through Lanzini, the contact may have been made after he'd started to go down, but there was no way Pieters was not going to take him out. Joke of a decision that will never be made against any top 6 side.
There really needs to be a three game ban at least as there's still no real incentive to avoid diving. There's just too much chance of a "positive outcome". Also players that were not picked up at the time should be retrospectively banned too, even if the incident didn't result in a pen. For example a couple of games ago Jesus did a completely ludicrous dive that the ref I think ignored because it was so bad. But it was still a dive and the player needs a reason not to do the same thing again.
The real thickos are spouting variations on "Lanzini dived, yeah, but Dele Alli could've snapped De Bruyne's leg" - somehow failing to understand that a panel whose job it is to decide whether or not a player dived don't give a tuppenny **** about anything that isn't a dive.
I do wonder how they managed to spend so much converting the Taxpayers Arena. And it doesn't look much different to what it did before, plus when the athletics is on the public pay again to change it back. I would be really interested in a proper analysis of where the money was spent, particularly because complete stadiums seem to have been built for less! For example the entire Millennium Stadium cost £191 million!!!!
He's probably your most creative player, but Moyes might have left him out of that game anyway. His focus this season has to be getting clear of the relegation zone and I expect him to play reserves against the Goons. They'll probably do the same, but their depth should be better than yours, unfortunately. Joe Hart starting is a big risk, too.
I hope not, I want to see a team that has a chance, I don't think we're in that much danger of relegation now as our performances have improved massively since Moyes arrived, the players actually seem to give a **** now. Wouldn't mind a mix up of youth and first teamers, I'd like to see Haksabanovic and Martinez given game time, as for Hart, every West Ham fan has known who our best Goalie has been since August '13.
