I have been to Liverpool hundreds of times, one of my best mates is a Scouser and I lived in a house at Uni for 3 years with another Scouser.
I've been to Liverpool a few times and was pleasantly surprised by their city centre. I thought Anfield was a **** hole though, could do with sprucing up a bit. Maybe my expectations were too high.
The City Centre is fine. The local papers even suggest that the house buying policy for the stadium expansion is driving the area into Poverty. The area around the stadium does look really run down to me.
It ****s on Hull (and most other places) to be fair. Big style. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architecture_of_Liverpool#cite_note-10 All that wealth from slavery and tobacco......
Lets be honest, Liverpool is a terrible place. A British equivalent of Baghdad. Scousers, imo, are a modern day equivalent of nazis. All scum.
And Liverpool wasn't? We have docks....place got bombed to **** obviously. You're right about the area around the ground btw. It has been left to rot to ****...the club along with a succession of **** councils have seen to that I'll never defend LFC against those allegations but that doesn't mean the people of the area are scum. It's pretty damn easy (and highly uncreative) to brand a group of people into scum...people no doubt do it when talking about a city such as Hull the same as some dickheads still brand all the "scousers" as tea leaves or the "******s" as lazy or the "chinkies" as chip shop owners or the "pakkies" as corner shop owners etc etc Same people doing it, it's just a different target every time.
Calm down, calm down..... please log in to view this image I merely observed that there are very few if any traditional British chippies in and around your ground, whilst there is an abundance of ones owned/run by emigres from the Peoples Republic of China or their descendants.
I haven't referred to anyone from Liverpool as scum, nor would I, but you can generalise about the 'type' of people that don't pick up dog ****. It's disgusting, I don't like seeing it in my village, but some ****ers are too bone idle to pick it up, it can spread disease. Many happy memories from areas around your fair city. But as a frequent visitor with work to somewhere near Anfield I was surprised at how run down it looks, same for most major cities I know. Hull was the most bombed City after London, as we were a key port. The bonus was our location! We were on the flight path from Germany and back to Germany, so any bombs that didn't get dispatched at their intended destination, were dropped on Hull on the return leg, just for good measure.
Maybe I should do a thread about what a bunch of scumbags the Germans were then we'd all have some more common ground eh You're right about the state of the area around the ground and I will tell you why it's like that (while we're on the subject of common ground). We had a succession of dodgy owners who deliberately let the area rot to **** (buying up properties and leaving them vacant to reduce the property prices further). It was a deliberate ploy that's resulted in an area run into the ground and has yielded absolutely no benefit to anyone as we've still not managed to expand the ground Liverpool is like that, a city full of great people (now I'm generalising) run by complete and utter crooks and neglected by the money men in London because of it's traditionally left wing politics.....any of that last bit sound familiar? One last point I'd like to make is that you have to remember the germans did bomb our chippy....although I'm now wondering whether it was a traditional fish and chip shop or a "chinky"
There are loads of "traditional" chippys around our ground There's **** all else apart from boozers, offys and tanning shops but one thing you'd have to be a complete moron not to be able to find is a bloody chippy.
