Myra Hindley got 30 years. So sentences are definitely harsher now. Child molesting is the new witchcraft so public opinion demands that offenders are dealt with severely. I don't dispute that Bennell's offences are despicable and that he's ruined lots of lives. However, a few days ago a gang tortured and murdered a man and burned his body in Liverpool. The longest sentence was 27 years. Most got 22 years. Surely sex offences aren't more serious than torture and murder? Additionally, the case got little publicity whereas there has been saturation coverage of Bennell.
It's not a 'sex offense' though, is it? It's the rape of children. Not the same ball park by a million miles.
I should also say, without wanting to take any focus off the actual offenses here, if you substitute the word City for United with regards to involvement, implied or actual, then that club would have been hung, draw and quartered by the media. The fact that it's City, who don't pay anyone off, ever, honest, means there ****ing getting away with it. Like they do everything else. Because everyone ****ing loves City, right?
No, it isn't. As someone pointed out earlier in the thread, it's just the same as the BBC turning a blind eye to ongoing abuse. The BBC should have been held accountable. They haven't been. Just because it's not the same Man City now as it was then then tough ****, they should also be held accountable. I'd happily see them finished by it. They're a ****ing sham anyway.
I meant all as in the BBC, the clubs so far, high level politicians, the FA etc. I meant all as in all those that have been found so far, obviously not every single club. Though I suspect there's a lot more to come out.
Oh yeah, and Crewe. Who the press have deemed guilty anyway. Because it's Crewe. I didn't know Southampton were involved, no wonder you're being so weirdly defensive. Pretty sure if it was Pompey you'd be saying the same as I am.
How on Earth am I being defensive? I'm saying that any clubs involved should be looked into heavily to see if there was a cover up I posted a link earlier in the thread that one of our ex coaches is standing trial in May for approx 50 counts, I hope to god we didn't cover it up but I'm prepared for the worst. Not sure what Pompey have to do with it? You seem to be trying to point score.
Hopefully so mate. No idea why Chief is accusing me of being defensive when I'm being anything but. Very odd.
Don't forget its long sentences because its multiple crimes So if 30 got 30 years but abused 30 kids its basically a year for each offence I appreciate that's simplistic, but I was making it that way
Because you seem to think Saints have also had someone involved in it. For whatever reason, City are the media darlings at the moment and so no one can say a thing against them. If United had knowingly covered up what this monster was doing, as City appear to have at the time, they'd have been hung out to dry by now. City? No, they haven't because everyone loves them and they invented entertaining football and stuff. They should be brought to book. It doesn't matter if the whole regime has changed, it's still them. They should be ****ing crucified. There's something rotten and corrupt about that place, it needs outing. Just like the BBC before them though, they won't be.
