yeah, I used to play it when I was younger in the park with the lads. I liked smashing the ball about, too. I just can't stand the organised version, Sweats - it bores me silly.
I've got a cricket-related story actually. A wealthy friend of my inlaws was following the England cricket team around the West Indies one summer several years ago. He happened to be on the same flight as them as they were flying somewhere or other for a game - or it might have been when they were going home - dunno. Anyway, he was up in first class when non other than his hero Geoffrey Boycott got on and sat across the aisle from him - the players were back in standard class. After they took off, he plucked up the courage to go over and talk to him - Boycott was telling him all about a recent operation he'd had and they were having a right good old chinwag, when one of the hostesses came up and asked if some of the players could put their bags and bats etc in 1st class storage so they could have more room. Boycott turned to the hostess and said, 'Tell them to bugger off! No bloody way!', the hostess looked shocked and embarrassed and promptly scurried away to break the news to the players. Boycott shook his head, turned to Eric (in-laws' friend) and said, 'Cheeky sods You know, you do well in life, earn a bit of money and there's always some freeloading gits who want summat for nowt!' Ha ha, what a twat. But you've got to admire the Yorkshire bastard for his stance! **** the players!

I ****ing love cricket, there was a period of a couple of years in my late teen when there was only two days a week when I didn't play. Twas my life in summer. That's when I used to play against the likes of Irani, Hegg and Krikken. Talented ****s. Naturally enough booze and birds eventually got in the way but I'd still play if it didn't take up all weekend. I have golf to take up all weekend now instead. Looks like we're going to get this Sanchez bloke. How many fooking wingers do we need then, eh? If it is true I can only assume Nani will be off.
