He didn't even leave with one of his hissy fit leaving threads. Maybe BBT was right, maybe someone has hunted him down and now he's dead.

The wife was getting my work clothes ready when she moaned"I'm sick of this iron. It's really struggling to get through the creases, it's well ****ed.""No it's not baby." I told her. "You just need to put some of that stuff into it.""Really?" she asked. "What stuff's that?""Effort, you idle bitch. Effort."

You've got that Davicako on there calling people ******s for showing him what an utter ****wit he is, surely irony at its very purest.
And he's on there, tripping out the same old 'negrito is a nice word in spanish' bullsit over and over and over and over again.

    Yep just seen that.

I think someone should drill ( literally ) it into his head that its not the person making the offensive comm ent that decides if it was offensive but the person on the receiving end and If I was black and someone said to me in any language that they dont talk to blacks I wouldnt be best pleased.

Combo of both I think. Stood in the vague vicinity of Pietersen once and he is tall. I reckon Ant and Dec are not so much midgets, they are merely short arses. Geordie short arses.

So anybody can be offended by anything now, as long as they decide it is offensive, and regardless of the intended meaning?

It is all well and good saying that the onus should be on the offended person, but there are people who get offended by the slightest thing and people who go looking for things to be offended by. Should it always be at the discretion of these people, or should the actual intention of the comment be taken into consideration?

Take Evra for example, he was offended by Suarez according to his evidence. Yet he didn't know what Suarez had actually said, by his own admission he did not understand the Spanish meaning of the term when Suarez used it. He had to think of another word similar to the Spanish word that was used, so he thought of the Italian word 'negre' (which has a completely different meaning incidentally), he then translated this word into English and came up with the word '******' and was subsequently offended! He later realised that the word used by Suarez was not what he had thought/translated and admitted this in his evidence. Now regardless of what Suarez meant, the nuances of the word, why Fergie said he used the word '******', the 5, 7, 10m times it was claimed at different points to have been used...regardless of all that, Evra was offended by a Spanish word that was not intended (or means) the way he originally thought (his own words).

So, with this in mind, is it right that the person on the receiving end should decide whether or not a comment is offensive...even when they misunderstand the word and its intention, even when they have to use two completely irrelevant languages to get to a position where they feel offended?

For me, it is a bit of both, the intention matters just as much. <ok>

If that's what you think then fair enough...

All I am actually doing is responding to a claim that offense should be measured by the recipient and be devoid of any intended meaning!

What is your take on this issue? Do you have an opinion on this or are you just intervening on the thread to tell me to **** off, which I must say is not much of an input really is it? <ok>

Sometimes it feels good to go against the grain, rather than be a sheep!

And also, it is good to see the responses I get to my comments at times. It makes me smile knowing that by just saying the tiniest anti-United thing, people like you get all wound up and possibly foam at the mouth with rage. You are a good example of why this forum is such a delight for me...seeing your uncontrolled anger at times just because I said something like 'Carrick is average' is extremely entertaining for me...i'm not sure thanks is the right word, but thanks anyway! <ok>

    Night ;)

I see you're back, I was getting worried about you. I'll be pissed off with myself for mentioning this if yet another thread gets wrecked by the tedious Suarez debate again. I agree, it's all about intention and delivery and I do and always have believed that Suarez delivered in an aggressive and derogatory manner and the word in question was a million miles from being a term of endearment in this context. Anyway, off to play golf on a beautiful autumn morning and I really don't want to be thinking about a **** like Suarez, it could ruin my morning. This conversation should end now, its run its course. Nothing to see here.

Yeah the Suarez thing is tedious. My view on it has changed since the time, I re-read the report without the background frenzy that was taking place at the time and I have come to form the opinion that Suarez was aggressive and his intention was to wind Evra up, this was however a reaction to Evra's initial insulting and abusive comments, and the cultural aspect has to be considered!

Basically it was two blokes having a go at each other in a foreign language, why anybody started to translate it from Spanish is bizarre to me (why would you ever feel that that is necessary?), but anyway, one of them wanted to let the matter stay on the pitch, the other wanted to complain about it...fair enough if that is the way Evra works, but if you are going to start throwing insults around, to me you look a bit pathetic when you start crying about it when you get some back!

As for the whole, but what Suarez said was racist and therefore worse, I don't personally buy into that. That way of thinking is a manifestation of us (the British) not wanting to offend particular minorities, it has its roots in slavery and the oppression of minorities from another time. To me if I call someone a fat **** and the fat **** calls me a black ****, then that is fair game...but that is just my opinion, others differ and I understand and accept that!

Enjoy your golf and don't let Suarez get to you so much! <ok>
