Not sure anyone is claiming he is ****. I think most are saying he's been vastly over hyped by the media and he is in no way shape or format worth £49m.

He is worth what the club are asking from r and the buyin club are willing to pay. Is bentek really worth his release clause, it's what Liverpool or United will need to meet as that's Villa's valuation

Did they regularly start for City? They're 2 of the players that City would be looking to replace imo. Good players, but nothing special.

And Sterling will then be the natural replacement. Not a only does he offer a greater attacking threat than the other two, Rodgers has him comfortable playing across the park and not just out wide. Let's not get started on his pace and the added threat from of the counter attack

Because our players don't cross often or well. Coutinho doesn't, Firmino doesn't, Johnson didn't, Moreno doesn't, Lallana doesn't, Sterling didn't, Markovic doesn't, Ibe doesn't. I could go on but you get the point.

James Milner crosses a bit but he's hardly David ****ing Beckham, we aren't going to build an attack around his crossing ability. And in any case bring Benteke in and we reduce the effectiveness of our best attacking player of last season and other fringe players like Markovic, Ibe etc.

And yes, in theory Benteke gives us an option in middle to cross, but in reality what will happen is we won't have anyone running in behind trying to stretch the opposition defence which will result in us crabbing the ball across the box eventually working it out wide to float a crap ball that is no use to anybody and go right into the arms of the keeper for 90 minutes. It'll work in 1 game against Watford in December where we'll score a late goal via Benteke header and we'll talk about how we've turned a corner and how we've finally started getting the right sort of delivery into him and then we'll proceed to crab the ball across the box and launch aimless crosses in for another 3 months before Benteke gets injured and we'll finish the season strongly without him. Then we'll tell everyone we've learnt our lesson and that we're better without Benteke then new season comes around and we will STILL start the season with Benteke up front and repeat EXACTLY the same mistakes again.

Its just unbelievable to me that we've had this situation with Carroll a few years ago and Lambert/Balotelli last season yet we are going to do it again this summer and waste another transfer window.
There's more to Bentekes game than getting on the end of headers in fairness. He's a natural striker and a decent finisher, he scores all sorts of goals, I think you're pigeon holing him in the wrong box there tbh.

I agree he makes good runs and doesn't always want the ball into feet or crosses, he's abig lad but does have good movement. I'm not a huge fan of him and think that the money being mentioned is silly but if we get him then lest see.

So you're saying Lovren was worth £20m? Balotelli £16m? Carroll £35m?

The last fella that came to us went away with a nice shiny premier league medal, he did his bit in earning it too

Shaw, Rojo, Blind, Herrera, Felliani, Falcao, etc? Not one of them had a Premier League medal, not to mention the guys you've signed this summer  [HASHTAG]#last[/HASHTAG]

What I said is that "He is worth what the club are asking" Now, that doesnt equate to value for money as many have pointed out that 20 goal striker Lukaku was a flop<biggrin>

If we get the Raheem from the season before when he lit up the PL alongside Suarez

He lit up the PL because of Suarez, the space created by Suarez enabled him to shine. I'm sure he'll look good when you are playing well but if you are struggling in a game then he's not going to drag you out of it or be the man to step up.

But the lad is 20 - the fact he can play alongside top class players like suarez and step up is still admirable.

I do agree with you though - Suarez carried our team last season and he improved the players.

Suarez scared every defence and made space... but in fact it was only when sturridge returned form injury and both played that defences sat 15 yards back and created acres for sterling and coutinho when he got a game to play in.

City need a partner for aguero and mr sterling is not that.

If city want to play a diamond with sterling at the tip:

a) they have to drop sliva and yaya... not going to happen.
b) they need a proper partner for aguero... don't have one. all 3 other forards are queued to go.
c) need a dynamitc CM partnership and an anchor. they have fernadninho but if yaya plays Cm they will struggle.

I am interested to see what an earth this city team will look like as i feel their buying is not done by a long stretch but even more I don't see how they will line up yet.

True - SAS occupied defences but again, it stemmed from Suarez. He created space for Sturridge as well. The guy was ridiculous last season. Now he was irreplaceable.
