The most expensive in the history of Watford
English Premier League club Watford has acquired French midfielder Étienne Capoue from Tottenham Hotspur, but he is the most expensive player in the history of Watford.
Capoue, who is 26 years old, came to Tottenham from Toulouse in 2013, but was never able to establish himself and played only 36 games in two years with the club.
He has now come to Watford, but the price on him 5.7 million pounds. He did a four-year contract with the club.

Watford have completed a deal for Greece left back Jose Holebas from Roma for an initial fee of £1.8million, the Italian club have confirmed.
Roma announced on their official website on Thursday that Holebas, 31, will switch to the newly-promoted Premier League club in a move that could also include up to £350,000 worth of add-ons.
Holebas only joined Roma last summer after four seasons at Olympiacos and scored once in 24 Serie A appearances.

For large parts of 2014-15 he was the preferred option at left back to former England, Chelsea and Arsenal star Ashley Cole.
The Greek international also has 27 caps for his country, and featured in all four games as they made it to the last 16 of the 2014 World Cup

Dennon Lewis has become the latest Watford Academy product to sign a long-term deal with the club after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.
The versatile winger, along with Alfie Young and Mahlondo Martin, was offered a one-year professional deal by the club in May but he has now committed to a longer contract.
Lewis has been involved in Quique Sanchez Flores’ pre-season training and came on as a second-half substitute during the Hornets’ 4-0 friendly win at St Albans City on Wednesday night.
"I'm over the moon. It's been a long journey," he told Watford’s website.

"I'm thrilled to sign the contract. Hopefully, I can progress into the first team and play in the Premier League one day.
"It's an unreal feeling, I'll be honest. Signing with any club, let alone a Premier League club, is amazing. Being able to play with these players at the level they are playing at is incredible. That's what every kid dreams of."

Will we see any of our players loaned or sold to Grenada or Udinese? I wondered if it was our turn to sift through all of these transfers and then farm out those that are surplus to requirements.
Certainly sooner or later we must be thinning out our squad a bit more.

We do have a lot of young players who could do with a game but doubt they will go to Italy or Spain...mind you one did I remember.

I suppose I was hoping that Bond would have spent a couple of seasons with either Udinese or Granada.

    Valon Behrami

Wobby: we have been told the Swiss international has signed a three-year contract after completing his medical.
The 30-year-old’s move is set to be officially announced tomorrow, making him Watford’s sixth summer addition following the signings of Sebastian Prodl, Giedrius Arlauskis, Matej Vydra, Jose Holebas and Etienne Capoue.

Former West Ham United midfielder Behrami only joined Hamburg from Napoli in a £3.2 million switch last summer and made 22 appearances for the German side.
However, the former Fiorentina and Lazio man – who has won 53 caps for Switzerland – had been given permission to discuss personal terms with Watford.

Valon Behrami would be an interesting addition - presently on a 3 year deal with Hamburg but new manager there now after they escaped relegation - wants first team football so I doubt he has come here to sit on the bench. Be interesting to see whether he is deployed as a defensive, holding or attacking midfielder or possibly all three.

Was decent for us while he was playing and I can't say I was happy to see him leave in the January sales, possibly part of the reason we got relegated.

Spoke to my colleague who is a WHU fan today and he says that he liked him - not necessarily the most skilful, but will always give 100% and rarely tries things he can't do.

The right-back has completed a permanent move to Watford and will join up with Quique Sanchez Flores' squad on their pre-season training camp in Germany.
Born near Paris, Nyom broke through at French lower league side Arles-Avignon before securing a move to the Italian Serie A with Udinese in 2009.
He was immediately loaned to Granada, and remained with the Spanish outfit as they rose through the divisions from Segunda Division B to La Liga.
The 27-year-old featured more than 200 times for El Graná - including 135 appearances in the Spanish top flight - where he remained up until the end of last season.
    Nyom represented Cameroon at

    Bit of a U-turn then..in our favour.

Will know some of our players well already coming from Granada.

And if it keeps Parades on his toes or out the team then even better.

As I understand it, we are allowed 17 non-home grown players in our squad of 25 (excluding under 21s). We have 18 non-home grown players on our books now, I think. Assuming Ekstrand is not included in the 17, anyone else we sign who is not home-grown means that someone will miss out. Who will that be? Admittedly the decision doesn't have to be made until the transfer window shuts, but some players must be worried that they could be defenestrated.

    That sounds very mediaeval !

    aha it is!! :

The term originates from two incidents in history, both occurring in Prague. In 1419, seven town officials were thrown from the Town Hall, precipitating the Hussite War.
In 1618, two Imperial governors and their secretary were tossed from
Prague Castle, sparking the Thirty Years War. These incidents, particularly in 1618, were referred to as the Defenestrations of Prague and gave rise to the term and the concept.
The word root derives from Latin fenestra for "window".

Good signings, can´t complain what so ever!

Midfield and defence has new recruits, up top we should be strong enough, hopefully!
