Big weekend. The pecking order doesn’t necessarily have to change but the gaps certainly need to close up to make this interesting.
I think Lewis won't be so polite this time, gloves are off. He knows only too well that he can't let Bottas to gain too much confidence. Not much to conclude from the timing, a second of the pace of last years pole so reckon 1.5 to 2s to shave off yet.
Ominous from Mercedes but I actually think Ferrari have a bit more engine to turn up in Quali than was the case in the first 4 races. Worryingly Merc are now seemingly quickest in sector 3, so they might even be favs for Monaco as well!!
Either Russel has a different Williams or Kubica isn't as good as he was. Russel 2sec off pace Kubica 3.5sec off!!!!
Wonder if there are any idiots that still think Ferrari are faster then Mercedes like that retard Andrew Benson. Ferrari were better at the odd track over the last 2 years but Mercedes have been so domaint since 2014
Lewis time did not improve between Q2 1:16.038 and Q3 1:16.040 !!! Not sure if Mercs on samr tyre Q2 to Q3 but it's a bit weird Bottas improved by 0.5sec!!! Lewis didn't seem to have an explanation. Looks like Bottas just did a great job.
No . He seems to need to be down before he comes back stronger .. I do think though , that this year maybe a touch different ...
Apparantly Hamilton suffered with a battery issue? Might explain the gap. But crikey, absolutely no one in the Mercedes chassis league right now, never mind the engine. Based on sector 3 here, unless RBR upgrade at Monaco, Merc will be on pole there by the best part of a second. I think Ferrari might eventually have to admit that they’ve gone the wrong route with their philosophy. Alfa suffering the same issues too.
I've done some math. I'll post after the race but Hamiltons team mates beat him 40% of the time. And Bottas is his weakest opponent
