I think Nigel has given it to Gazza for now. He must have real faith in him.

SKD clearly not favoured and has become a bench-warmer. Boruc should be first choice - why else would we have signed him? Gazza is a little out of his depth at the moment - do not understand why we keep throwing him in at the deep-end.

I agree. Gazza had little to do at Anfield, and did nothing wrong except boot the ball into the stand a couple of times, but I cringed every time he had something simple to deal with.

.....and if Boruc can`t/won`t do it any more, then now is the time to find out before the window.

Suppose that is true. I just worry that he's not been on the bench even. Suggets Nigel isn't convinced.

    Super, super Kelv...

Alright, so Reading didn't give him much to do, but our man looked confident and composed. Every ball he came for he got, including catching some potentially dangerous crosses under pressure. Kelvin had a wobbly start to the season, to say the least, but he was playing behind a very dodgy makeshift back four. And he still managed to save 2 penalties.

Now that the defence is looking more robust, and is getting some cover from midfield (thank you Jack Cork), is it time to put the club captain back between the sticks for good?

Then again, maybe it was the all black kit that made the difference.

Still feel all 3 aren't good enough for various reasons, so new keeper needed.

I am quite happy to see SKD back in goal. Lets see how it goes v Sunderland and take it from there.

Nice to see Kelvin back in a game that he could show what he's good at. Would be a shame if he was remembered for a poor start to the PL, rather than his heroics in the previous seasons. He was calm and did what he had to do...judging by Puncheon's comments the team were happy to have him back as well.

I thought Super Kelvin looked very composed today.
Agree that Reading never really put us under serious pressure but I felt so much more relaxed when he had to do something without having my heart rate shoot.
If I feel like that I am sure our defence feel the same

    Freidel-good keeper, but no thanks
Robinson-has had his best days, but no thanks
Gazzaniga-young, lots of promise, bench warming needed
Boric-very odd choice, always struck me as panic buy, best days long gone.
SKD-club stalwart, solid and dependable without being fancy, tough, below par start to season, and a surprise to lots that he struggled as he did early season. More than happy for him to continue.

Long term.... We need to choose someone between gazzaniga and SKD.... Always been a fan of schmeichel not just because of the name..... Young ish but bags and bags of experience... Maybe use SKD to choose his long term successor..?

Good summary. I would like Given who is out of favour at Villa.

Given has been consistently very good throughout his career.... But as with freidel.... I doesn't fit where we are going and the profile of player we should be attracting. I think a few people are forgetting that the slight blip we were in a few games ago is not a good enough reason to break from the path the club is on and that has served us well over the past few years....

As much as I love Shay he has been a liability over the last year for Ireland and Villa...His international successor Westwood would be decent in my opinion. Not getting any time at Sunderland.Happy enough with what we have at the moment though, will re-evaluate in January
