The immense average line up Sky have provided us bar Martin Brundle and Ant Davidson actually went a good way to almost making me certain that I won't be getting Sky for F1. I think the line up is shockingly poor. Some rugby bloke presenting, along with David Croft commentating - no thanks. Ted Kravitz is no loss for the BBC. Never rated him as a pit lane commentator in the 10 years he was one. James Allen was always the better and far more knowledgeable pit lane man than Kravitz ever was in the first few seasons on ITV. The BBC should hire James for that role again. Whatever you though of him as a lead commentator, he made a quality pit lane commentator!
True, he was a good pit lane reporter, but most people will dislike the idea, because he was a terrible commentator.
James Allen was also a biased fan towards Ferrari and Button. where as Steve Rider had the love in with Hamilton every weekend <puke> <puke> <puke>
Have to say I can't disagree with this, not sure James would want to go back though. Would you once you've been the lead commentator for four or five years? I still reckon it will go to the guy who does it for MotoGP. And the Beeb's MotoGP coverage is pretty good, so I have no fears
I am glad M Brundle has left the BBC, as a free view channel, I couldn't stand listening to his and DC's obscene bias towards the Mclaren team. They belong with the money-grabbing ball-sucking Sky channel. Murray Walker should return.
DC loved Red Bull and especially Vettel. They provided knowledge to the viewers which Legard didn't. I liked the partnership.
Brundle was slightly biased towards McLaren but I like the fact that he made an effort to stay neutral and I've noticed that he's the only one in the BBC team who gives Alonso credit where it's due. Watch what happens next year when there is a racing incident involving a British driver. I suspect Brundle will be the only one in the Sky F1 team that doesn't blindly criticise/blame the non-British driver involved.
I don't mind commentators favouring drivers or teams, but its when they try and hide it that it annoys me. Brundle always seemed pretty fair but DC actually annoyed me a little at times. Alonso was a "villain" not so long ago but the BBC at least seemed to be giving him more credit where it was due this year. The interview they had with him this year being very positive. There was some British bias on show but its a British program at the end of the day, that said they didn't half try to stir something up between Button and Hamilton at times. I expect Sky to be far more bias than BBC, but after watching races in Italian and Spanish this year I can safely say its normal
Very interesting! I can't imagine it's a change to the contract with Sky, so I'm guessing an announcement to do with the TV team? Maybe Sky have let Brundle commentate for both (I wish)?
