Coxy is the main man - he's ****ing huge! Spent many a night dancing to his techno stylings down Lakota in the 90s.
I have read that Teds erected a false plaque over the writing on the Memorial gates at the Mem and then have released the resulting photo yesterday, on the eve of the 100 year anniversary of WWI. Can these sacks of **** stoop lower? Is it humanly possible for this filth to be any more insensitive and disrespectful?
Classless scum. And some of the spelling on that Ted FB page is breathtaking, as is their understanding of what constitutes a War Memorial and what's happening to those gates if and when a Sainsburys gets built. Cretinism without limit.
Having seen the pictures previously the plaque does not obscure any writing, and was positioned on a seperate pillar. Doesn't the stadium name indicate what constitutes a War Memorial? What is happening to those gates if Sainsburys gets built? Will Sainsburys be totally conclealed from view whenh looking towards the gates? My ex service relatives would laugh at the temporary joke pulled by City fans, they would not find the prospect of an intrusive generic homage to the free market cloaking the Memorial site funny.
Your attempted defence of your cohorts' actions is pathetic. Why even place it on the gates? There are plenty of other surfaces they could have stuck it on. If you really care about the Memorial Gates and their place in any future development on the site, then put a modicum of effort in and go and find out. All this information is in the public realm. I couldn't give two hoots what your 'ex-servicemen' relatives think about anything, least of all the Memorial Ground. Your mealy-mouthed response attempting to justify the actions of those insensitive enough to make a cheap joke using the Memorial as a vehicle on the 100th anniversary of WWI simply shows you as a lame, shallow-thinking apologist.
I almost know nothing about the Memorial ground as I have only visited it three times to watch City. Hence questions. I would hope there would be some form of section 106 agreement stretching around the gates creating a garden and wall to conceal Sainsburys, and its signs of Weetabix Fuel your day etc. I would condemn the act of using aersol paint on the gates inscription as crass stupidity, this did not. It was clearly a prank. The plaque might even be a delicious ironic bullseye as it damaged nothing, but it has exposed the hypocritical nature of football fans red or blue. Many do not care about much at all. The flagellation from the Gas is false. BRFC hived a Memorial stadium off the rugby club and have used something bequested to rugby to pursue their interests. City fans have exercised a similar moral insecurity over Ashton Vale and the local Community not singing from "our" hymn sheet as well.
I've nothing against the prank itself, I'm sure it's quite funny if you're a red. 'Deliciously ironic bullseye' it ain't, intentional or otherwise. You know the recent history of the Gates as well as I do, so another BCFC 'prank' on a sensitive site on this anniversary is hardly going to be welcomed by anyone, except those who feel that a War Memorials is a suitable medium for inter-club 'pranks'. As I've already mentioned, there are plans agreed between Bristol Rovers, Sainsburys and the British Legion for the relocation of the Gates and the establishment of a Memorial Garden within the site. These are a matter of public record and are easily available. You can check them out and then decide for yourself whether or not they accord with your opinion with what is a suitable setting. Either way I'm not particularly bothered. And you can regurgitate the old myth about Rovers 'stealing' the ground off the rugby club as much as you like. The facts do not back that tired assertion up.
in my opinion the spray painting of the gates a while back was the lowest of the low..... most genuine football fans in Bristol appreciate what the young men did 100 years ago (& since), this new "plaque", yes it's poor timing, but to be honest, I can see the humour in it (who wouldn't smile if it were the other way around ?) How far do you take rivalry ? if a 82ltd player scored a world cup winning goal for England, would you say England didn't win (or vice versa). Why do people Boo when 82ltd are winning at h/t ? surely it only matters when we're back in the same division ?? Well that's my two penneth anyway, now where's my tin hat.....
"More direspect by scum" is hardly having nothing against a joke. "I have read that Teds erected a false plaque over the writing on the Memorial gates at the Mem and then have released the resulting photo yesterday, on the eve of the 100 year anniversary of WWI." That did not happen either. The photos are from July. The street style prank was on a side pillar and avoided the inscription and railings, unless there are other photos showing different. If there was an obvious attempt to cause offence, or vandalise the gates e.g. Ada - CSF I would condemn the stupidity, that was deplorable. This benign "attack" is very very different.
Can someone please enlighten me to the point in history when 'The Memorial ground' became the 'Memorial gates' because as far as I am aware the ground was left in memorium to rugby players of Bristol who died in the world wars. So, its ok to sell the ground and knock it down for your own purposes and then transfer some fake outrage to a couple of jokers who put up a false plaque for a photo for a few minutes.! Sorry not having that.
Bluebaldee is on his period this week, don't worry he will calm down soon. I wonder how many times he's stood in the ground or by the gates and gave a moments thought to the fallen soldiers. He's probably only thought they was a smoking area previously
