Nope.

You're confusing some sort of sci-fi 'car train' computer controlled mass transport system with individual cars operating within a road system that has both driverless and driven cars.

The example you've given of the car stopping suddenly because a kid ran in the road, the current systems would brake the car if the driver failed to react. If cars behind were fitted with the same technology then they'd react to the car that had braked, in the same way as humans do!

None of the scenarios you've outlined there, are beyond the current technology

Lane change technology - tick
Radar controlled sensors - tick
Nav - tick
Road condition sensors - tick
Controlled and emergency braking systems - tick

These driverless cars DO exist and are currently in the testing phase.

And my point about the guy with the classic car?

I don't deny any individual item but they don't add up to a system cos a system is by definition more than the sum of the parts.

He does have breaks now and then, he's a good poster he'll be back. I have the proud honour of making him swear for the first time, he called me a nasty name when going through one of my dramatic periods. <laugh>
Don't worry-at your age you won't have them much longer. <ok>

On JB. I have not heard anything at all so I will keep an eye on that too.

I think i'd hear if there was something he didn't like on here so i don't know its that.

I hope he is ok for sure.

A damn site more than the pathetic £11m we got at the time!

at the time that was a ridiculous over payment for a guy that was crocked.

The fowler we all knew at say 21/22 would be worth 70/80mil without question today. he was a better finisher than shearer or even henry in their prime and all.

Blackbrun bought shearer for a then record 3.5mil? he'd be worth 70-80mil as well today.

once he could not run he was probably still just about saleable to whatever sucker came along, but he was fast going downhill. I'd say that 11mil would be 20-25mil today.. which is about the rate of inflation in football it seems.

Was it bollocks. He'd been rumoured to be joining Arsenal and then Leeds for months for around the £15m mark. Doesn't seem like a big difference nowadays but it was back then. I was very disappointed with £11m at the time.

were you?

I was delighted.

Anyone with half a brain would not have bought him I thought. His knee was in **** and he was over weight and past it. . Maybe we did snatch the first off and not held out for more or maybe we said robbie we love you and if you want to just play while you can this is whats been offered cos we have owen (and heskey) and just won 3 trophies.

I thought leeds were suckers and it was proved to be the case. My view was in my signature on gerrard and the same was true of fowler. let them age elsewhere.

remember he did ok for the year at leeds and then moved on when it became apparent they'd imploded... by ok i mean he got 12 goals i nthat season. at city he never quite hit the heights and frankly after leaving us his top score in a season was 12 goals.

hit best seasons were 3/4 years in the past when we sold him.

It was a case of.... injury robbing him of his best years IMO. the moment he hit that everton keeper with the bloody all off the pitch in the merseyside derby he was toast. We sold him to leed with i think a hip injury that ended him then

ITs that hi injury that has me personally convinced that the minute i heard sturridge has an op on a hip he is toast.

He wasn't as good as he once was but he certainly wasn't passed it. Houllier preferred Owen and Heskey. Even Jari Litmanen couldn't get into the team FFS!

He was never the same player after leaving because his heart wasn't in it. He loves Liverpool FC!

ermmmmm nah... he did his hip. he wanted football. he went on and played for many years after so if his heart wasn't in football he would not have gone to aussie land.

Sorry no I maintain he was pretty ****ed when we got shut... and we did the right thing. the shame is he should have been a huge huge player and he ended up with a single league cup to show from his 90's era for us and really 2001 saved his medal legacy for us.

I'm glad we had that one big year with him in the squad.

He deserved more but then he was a bit of a lad too. It was bad luck his injury. Wish he'd have delivered us a ew era but we failed to build a proper side round him. some awful tosh behind him back in the 1990s.

I could change my opinion but then we'd both be wrong! We'll just have to agree to disagree <ok>

you were only pissed he left for 3 mil less than advertised

.... thats all...

I know i'm right and whats worse you've ignored the olive branch of agreeing that he had his career tragically limited by injury (not cut short par se) all that 3 mil would have done was bought another cheyrou for houllier.

He did have injury problems but his downfall was the manager, Houllier didn't like him!

£3m was a lot of money back then and it was over 27% of the actual fee paid too, not small change!

You couldn't be any more wrong on this if you tried :)

From the BBC on Studge...

"The England forward, 26, moved to Anfield three years ago but has been unavailable for 54.8% of his time at the club - that's 614 days missed out of 1,121 spent on Merseyside."

Pow!!!
