Of course we could do with better back-up than we have, but we couldn't afford to have players with that sort of price-tag waiting in the wings.
As you say, we might just re-adjust and not try to replace Sturridge with Moses, (he can't play the Chavs anyway).
As for Hendo; well, we'll just have to trust in the Messi Welshman.

I think Allen is going to do well when (most probably) he comes in

With Sturridge and Hendo out think we will see Allen + Lucas coming in and doing this midfield diamond?

I trust in BR to get us right whatever way we go

I think we'll go with either Lucas or Allen against Norwich but both against the Chavs.

No, but that isn't what you said. You said you hoped we hadn't made a mistake by not buying them, because it might come back to haunt us.
The team we have has kept us at or near the top all season and is within striking distance of the title (whether we'd have done better or worse with, say, Will.I.an in the team can only ever be conjecture).
To suggest we might have made an error in not having a £30M pound back up because one of that team is out for 3 of the last 4 games is what I think is unrealistic.

Translation: The DR Says is a top class **** :bandit:

Sturridge would have been the backup had we managed to sign Costa :bandit:

We'd be 5th.

Based on what? <laugh>

It may not have been Sturridge that was dropped, we may not have seen Sterling develop like he has. I find it fascinating that we were liked to players such as Willian, Salah, Costa, Henry Ryan, The Plank, etc and some posters were gutted that we missed out but how would our current players have reacted had we got them? Our season could have been very different.

sorry But GENERALLY speaking had any of those arrived sahko or ilori or both would not have come... has sahko been vital? no. if we had got mkhitaryan then willian, salah and konoplyanka would not... we are talking one big player in laster summer ideally... we would have been better off.

finally its more about suarez going than these arriving. there is no doubt in my mind that we would be well back from where we are in that scenario

Zinedine Zidane insists Steven Gerrard deserves to win the Premier League title this season, and says the Liverpool captain is the best midfielder of the last 20 years alongside former Manchester United star Paul Scholes.

The Real Madrid hero – now sporting director at the Bernabeu – also revealed the club attempted to bring Gerrard to Spain during the peak of his powers.

Gerrard – now 33 – is just four victories away from lifting Liverpool’s first Premier League title, and completing his medal collection.

And Zidane believes a title win for the Reds this season would be the perfect reward for Gerrard’s loyalty to the club.

‘He has had a great career winning many things – but it would be a big shame for him if he was never to win the league with Liverpool,’ said the former France World Cup winner.

‘For everything that he has given – he deserves a league title.’

‘I don’t think that is any secret that Real Madrid and Chelsea had big interest in him and that is just the teams the media knew about.

‘He could have played for any team in Europe – but he turned them down. That sort of loyalty should be rewarded with a title.

Zidane was also keen to point out that he considers Gerrard and former Manchester United Paul Scholes the two best midfielders of the last 20 years.

‘England have probably produced the two best midfield players of the last 20 years in Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes,’ he said.

‘There was a point when Gerrard was the best midfield player in the world. It is unusual to get complete midfield players who can do everything, but that is what he was.

‘His legs are not going to be what they were five or six years ago – but his presence and leadership are invaluable for Liverpool.’

if england back in the day had any tactical nouse 2006 should have seen scholes as regista, gerrard and a beckham as box to box and a player like rooney playing striker.

in 2006 had no scholes, lampard and gerrard pidgeon holes.. joe cole, hargreaves and prob its best ever defense of neville cole terry and ferdinand.

rooney madness = england out... on pens, italy rob the tournament.

just think had people valued football what might have been then? our team then was way better than it is now imo. erikkson wasted it

Right I think we need a poll, who was the most optimistic on here and believed first

Those excluded are gerrez and magic the morose bartards....

No need, that was Dave!

We haven't won anything yet though, 4 big very very very tough games to go

Dave been making positive comments but he admitted to me he didn't believe we'd do it :p

I don't believe others that claimed to have believed from day one!

Did he now the great pretender! ;)

One game at a time, Norwich will be hard at the weekend! What a magical season so far but its not doing my liver any good at all!

I told work on Monday that I may require a week off in May <laugh>

Believing we can, and expecting us to, are two different things.
I can't claim to have said we will win, but I've been pretty positive throughout.

The good start, and the way Suarez played on his return, made me very hopeful. I won't claim more than that, but it's quite different to the banana-skin brigade who are always waiting for the wheels to come off.
