You'd have martial law, rationing etc...
You can bet there are contingency plans for that stuff.

I'd love to see those.

The reality of today is food comes from global sources (not just EU etc) so how much food would be in reserve if there was some event. One could only assume it'd be bad.

Imagine being a vegan and not being able to get tofu...

There are temperature controlled warehouses up and down the country packed to the rafters with frozen and chilled food - stockpiling has begun.

true thats at 100% capacity for brexit planning.

my original comment was about unforeseen catastrophe.... like russian hordes invading europe etc

or transport strikes .... I remember the bread strike years ago, not a loaf to be had and people forced into making their own. A few home bakeries did good trade - queues outside like you only see at theatres etc. It was mad. People couldn't cope ...... and that was just a bread shortage.

now how about this

interesting if depressing story.

It seems people are allowed take offence at everything now

You need to cast a quadriplegic in the role or its offensive.... how dare someone "act" like a disabled person (badly in the case of dwane johnson i'm sure)

I find this Ability to take offense these days hilarious.
its only offensive if the role being taken is a minority role.

Being a white straight american male is fine.

It's plain silly.
Perhaps say - Clint Eastwood - should give back all his awards because he's not a real cowboy. Or a truck driver.
Perhaps they should get real murderers to pretend to kill people.
FFS.

theres a hierachy.

Striaght white woman cannot play ethnic minority or lgbt

Women can play a man though but obviously man cannot play a woman.

no one can play a disabled role (the most endangered species) unless they are physically disabled

I fully understand that there are disabled actors unable to get good acting parts. They don't have the luxury of being able to play non-disabled roles so their roles are extremely limited. Along comes a role for a wheelchair bound character ....and they give it to a non-disabled actor. I understand their grievance. However, on the other hand, the director has to be able to choose the best person for the role. Like any job, it's hard to prove the best candidate got the job.

Saw a Twitter conversation with Beverly Knight when she was cast as Emeline Pankhurst... got same accusations thrown at her as other way around and the response was.... "well whitey did it first..... Cleopatra blah blah." And pankhurst wasnt a fictional character... can you imagine if Tom Hanks was cast as Martin Luther King? Lol

Sliding scale rules when it's your own paycheque eh?

Same type of thing. Radio 5 live invited a model on that at some point slagged off her previous UK agency because despite starving herself down to a size 6 they said she was too big. Whinged for 5 minutes about how the US agencies are so much more accepting..... not once realising the ridiculousness of her position. Boiled down to ... not ok for them to demand a model be a certain size...despite the whole stupid purpose of models is to be some queer designers clothes horse. Did she think her US agency turned no girl away.... so it's ok to discriminate on looks just not weight? Or is it that they said yes to her and the other criticised her? Lol.

The agency didn't make you bulimic sweetheart... you did... at any point you could have said "this is a truly ****ty profession maybe I'll go do ....... x instead"

What was that movie that tanked about a transgender... that obviously would have been amazing if only an actual trans played it not the white guy who did do it.

the danish girl?

obviously no straight men wen to see it.
