Had a shocker to be honest. Confidence was shot from the first minute onwards, played a tidy team, mind.
Sounds like you had no defenders to concede 8 I play with few guys at work 5 or 6 a side each week and sometimes you get a team that no one wants to sit back and defend and even if have the better players get ****ed on every attack because of it. So frustrating
Yeah man it started off well, kept it tight for the first 20, but when that first one went in our head drops. For sure, exactly the case today, it's a thankless job closing down so people became lazy ****ers.
No good closing down unless others are going to do it as well, they'll just pass it around you otherwise. I give the others a bollocking if they don't put the effort it.
Same here, sometimes depending on who's on my team (we swap the teams around a lot each week to keep it interesting) they sit back and let the team play it out from the back and give them way too much room so I press and try and close, look behind me and they'll all on the bloody half way line just standing there #topplayer #leader #LBturnedCF
We swap teams around each week too. As I've said before, I'm very versatile so depends on who I'm playing with as to whether I defend or not. More oftem than not I'm defending but even when I play further forward I get back. I don't like standing about watching (I don't sound lazy there )
Careful you'll get a reputation and have to change your status! I run around, mainly because in winter it's ****ing cold. We all take turns in goal as well, try and time it in the middle so not too cold at start or end and get a nice 5 min break to re-charge
We take turns in net too but that bits not organised so sometimes get out of it. We don't make keepers stick to the area so its not too bad. I used to be good in net (still am) but since I snapped my left forearm (18mths ago) and dislocated my right shoulder (3mths ago) I'm not exactly keen to dive etc Still takes throw-ins but suffer with the shoulder afterwards.
No fireworks as its not a suitable area but it was well attended and went well despite a few hiccups; mainly traffic management issues which isn't me, we have to pay a company to do it. The bus service hadn't been told either (again, thats not me)
No barbeque either. Wasn't a massive affair. We gave away soup pies, tarts etc, had a choir singer, tree blessing, bag piper and a countdown with music filling the gaps. Only lasted an hour. The big Christmas Event is in a couple of weeks and that last most of the day
