If a panel examining charges and goes through evidence and decides huh you know what you've missed a few charges here or this charge should actually be split i to 2; do you not think that says there's serious foundation to said charges? Surely the fact that no charges were eliminated but 15 more sprouted up suggests that they are at very least not dismissing anything out of hand
You'd hope that they are taking it all seriously and that a proper judgement will be made and appropriate action taken - I just can't bring myself to believe that it will.
imo if City lose the case they will just drag it through the courts in the hope the PL vote to stop the action due to the costs
I don’t think the other prem clubs will let the PL do that. If they’re found guilty the PL will have the backing of every other club and any cop out will cost people at the top their job as clubs will lose all confidence in their ability and prob see a whole restructure of how things are run.
i think you are being naive hereas iirc Villa ,Newcastle and Forest supported City in the recent case regarding associated sponsorship and the clubs are businesses and are the PL so if huge legal fees are being racked up the cost falls on them .
You'd imagine that the city group have already paid off a lot of media and the pressure on these panelists is massive. I have not personally seen any of the 3 names mentioned anywhere but they can only be 3 from 15 on the list of panelists. City only need to get at 2 of them. This case in theory dwarves any other corruption case in the history of football. It is a case of financial cheating writ large. Yes there are fixing cases thst have gone before and collusion cases but nothing over the timeframe and scale and bare faced obstruction we have seen. Man city being relegated and the club being stripped from it's owner or excluded from all football is imo the only real solution. They have gone to the lawyers for everything and are extremely obstructive and disruptive to get their way. Thry have cheated to gain advantage and as such you either make it a free for all or deliver the psr verdict thst has to come down.
Think that’s very different. That was in relation to sponsorship that they also want to exploit. And nothing to do with city paying their managers under the table, hiding payments, falsifying docs etc. Not sure any prem club is going to back them up on that as it serves zero benefit to them. and even if a handful do, the league will look weak and all integrity and reputation damage will be done and they won’t be able to govern the league anymore
your view of the integrity of PL owners is clearly different to mine and quite a few clubs have been complaining about legal costs already
Do we have any indication yet of what the charges actually are? Atm, it's an internal investigation by the football authorities, but if City went to court then a forensic examination would follow, and if they're guilty of bribery and false accounting even worse could befall them. Not that I really expect it to come to that, but it's a thought.
I agree, but every penny the PL is forced to pay on this case should be added to City's fine. That's what would happen if it was a civil law case in the courts (which is where this will end up, I'm sure).
well if the PL had any common sense they wouldn't have access to civil courts instead it would go to CAS
most will be the original 115 charges levied by UEFA which presumably can be found online. basically the accounts weren't accurate , undeclared payments to Mancini ,undeclared expenses and inflating the amount of sponsor payments .
Unsure how the cost to the PL relates to individual club owners? Also I’ve not seen any club come out and back city in this case
