Set up trail cam in the woods by the creek trying to get photos of the coyotes, instead caught photos of Armadillos.

Had no clue we had Armadillos on the property. Pretty cool find. I've only ever seen them squashed on the road before. (And not anywhere very near us, probably about 20-30 miles from here).

I will have to set up a trap to catch one to see if they taste better than dime bars.

... Although they carry leprosy, so maybe not.

Modern medicine can clear it right up...

... I don't want to test that though.

Because they think we (or rather they) are special - the chosen ones - and everything was made just for us/them. The idea that we're tiny specks in an unfathomably huge cosmos appears to scare them.
Of course some don't believe that space is real at all.

the funny thing is they manage to take the literal easy stuff that they don't need to worry about and ignore any central tenants that would be a hassle.

For example; the amish seem to take something quite literal. The are swiss german in descent and emerged in the 18th century as extremists of the reformation. these people seem to ignore any sort of love your neighbour messaging of christianity and prefer to shun various technological developments or people so quite how they think some things frozen in time in the 1700s are ok but anything after is devilish. plus they seem to be very happy to play the shun game

Or you can take the example of the JWs who decide also that they need their own version of the bible and that many things are totally pagan in other churches again they consider all others under satan's thrall and aside form beating on doors and trying to shout at people they also wish to shun general contact with the unholy.

In general you find that "control" is more important than a core message of peace, do unto others or compassion of any type.

this is a recurring theme is most organised religions and is the same for none Christian faiths as well.

the desire to control outweighs any sort of desire to live by the central hard tenant of the message they are supposed to follow.

Its easier look at the speck in the eye of their brother, rather than the log in their own if i might borrow that little line.

Religion is rarely an issue, its organised control that's usually the issue.

Whether there's a God with a long beard and white robes that wrote on tablets and told prophets stories and tested them with floods, whales, and child sacrifice is not really going to be proven by taking old stories literally. But if 1% of these people lived "the love your neighbour as yourself" message they'd be adding to the world not leeching off it.

Totally agree on the last part, the whole ethos of religion is based on peace and love.

most are as a core. The people in control or seeking to control in general don't seem to care much for anything but control

Yeah that is certainly the main issue with organised religion.
