Why not, if that's what he wants? Don't worry @Nozzer, I'll support you no matter how many sex changes you have!
So, we all know how great this forum is for offering advice... But thought I'd get some opinions anyway. Family friend 62F had been chatting with a "Ukrainian soldier 39M" who randomly started talking with her on Facebook trying to start up a romance. Yes, it's obviously a scam. He asked for money at one point and at that point she accused him of being a scammer... He got defensive changed the subject and hasn't asked for money again. (Obviously, it's only a matter of time). The lady is very rich (her late father owned several businesses) and had a history of mental health issues (depression related) so is a great target for a scammer. She's talking about going to Ukraine to see him when war is over. (Great way to get kidnapped). I actually havent spoke to her in person, this is all coming second hand from other family members. Obvious scam to everyone who told her but she thinks it's real. I'm trying to get my mum to get her to send her a photo so I can reverse image search it and look at the meta data to see if photo really taken in Ukraine, etc. Ideas how to convince this women she's being scammed.
Scam her yourself. She can't get scammed if she's got no money left Seriously though, I've been involved in a few of these in the past and we just notify their bank. The bank will monitor the transactions. Didn't know any of them personally though. If they don't want to listen, there's not much else you can do
just look for geolocations on any posts or whatever. its.patently obvious on of the biggest scams going is Russians pretending to be Ukrainians looking for support and money. the person is probably down the road form her and is a catfish.
I don't actually have direct access to these posts. The conversation she has had was with my parents and they tried to convince her it was a scam and her response was "that's what everyone is saying, but this isnt a scam". I don't know who, besides my parents has warned her but she seems quite convinced to walk headlong into the scam even though she's been warned. I have asked my mum to try and get a photo I can reverse lookup. Shame it's not being done by email because then I might be able to track down where they're coming from. I figured out who my stalker was by looking at their IP and comparing it to what they logged onto my app with.
Found this a interesting... https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJVrrqoU/ ... probably doesn't say much most of us don't already know, just a good assessment.
Fake kidnapping with a fake Ukrainian accent followed up by a good old boy American busting in to save the day and saving her from certain death.
