from what age? you can't bench any cos they'd go mad. divas the lot. sell torres is right. same goals from the others. luckily in the real world you dont need to play one forward
Torres brilliant goalscorer for a season, but Salah at his best scores just as many/more and is a more complete player. Suarez was just amazing. Scores goals and made everyone else on the team play better. I agree with all the above about who to sell/bench/start... But will add.. Can you imagine if all three started together?
Not sure that's work. Torres was so good because he was upfront alone with loads of spaces to exploit, I don't think you get the same impact from him with Suarez and Salah entering the same areas.
Suarez from the left flank, Salah from the right and Torres down the centre. They were quite different in their approach. Suarez with the trickery and vision, Salah with his pace, Torres with the eye for goal and hounding the box. All three would provide a very different challenge for defenders to go against and would be amazing together.
Salah exploited the space created by Bobby dropping deep. Torres would be stood in that space. Suarez could play in a phone booth
Suarez would always create plenty of space by drawing in two or three players and taking them out of play, I think that's partially why anyone who played alongside him looked top quality... Suarez made.them look like that. Imagine Salah having that same partner up front. Also: Salah played great even without Firmino on the field. Not discrediting Firmino at all, he was always as valuable, if less visible to the others in the front three, but Salah at his best didn't need Firmino to look good. I don't at all buy they couldn't play together. They each had very different attacking styles that would have complimented each other not harmed each other. That said, I think Torres would be the most disposable of the front three and with Salah and Suarez up front, it might work better to have an extra midfielder playing because you don't need more firepower when you have peak Salah and peak Suarez together.... And I think those two together would have been just about a perfect partnership as is possible.
On the other hand imagine how good Salah would be if he had Jon Flanagan playing behind him like suarez did
Hmmm, not sure about that. Mo's stats might look ok, but just your eyeballs tell you that he's been nowhere near his best for a while now (though he's improved a bit lately). I think it was the combination of the three of them that made it work. As I said in an earlier post, greater than the sum of their parts. It applies to all three, though I still think Firmino was the linchpin.
Firmino enabled the team play very high as he was almost another CM at times while also there to press at others. ESP playing big sides we could dominate the ball more. Both mane and salah were free to run, but they also had the pace to make it count and i think genuinely salah has dropped that (not totally but a lot) Mane is also missed as he wouldnt play LW. he was in a 10 role with the ball well infield. with anoy of our replacements they are not the same sort at all. Its all baout change and finding a new way of really being effective imo. Hitting the target more consistently is the first step imo.
So on the way home I pop in to the shop for a bottle of red wine. The alcohol section is right at the back of the store but I notice some right in front of me as I walk in.
