There are local politicians who go into it wanting to do some good for their community. On a national level there might be a handful who have a sense of duty beyond their own careers, though spotting one in the Tory party would like the hardest Where's Wally? ever.
So back in uni had this Filipino friend. Extremely polite guy, wouldn't say anything remotely offensive. Driving along the road once someone cut him off and he started to curse "Oh.... Sh" and realising there were four other people in the car with him finished "Oh Shenaqua!". So it became an inside joke in out friend group saying "Oh Shenaqua". A couple of times a year the University sends out a magazine to alumni and asks for news births/deaths etc... Small uni, only 2000 students at a time, so it publishes any news. As a lark a decade ago I posted an announcement that I was married to a woman named Shenaqua and just had two twins (whose names were a different inside joke with a longer back story*). Figured my old friends would see it and have a laugh. So anyhow, point of all this. My old university just sent a letter to "Shenaqua [my surname]". I was a little confused until I remembered announcing my marriage a decade ago to their magazine. Boring letter. Just asking for donations. I guess they'd given up asking me to donate money to the University so they thought they'd try my fake wife. * Ironically with a where's Wally link.
We're doing **** and a certain person is all over the board. Pisses me off ****er posts more now than when we win the CL.
I'm struggling to recall any politician that has ****ed up so royally in such a short space of time. Truss is throwing him under the bus, to buy herself some time, but these pair against some stiff opposition have done very well at being absolute clowns.
