Boring award show has event where thug slaps boring comedian for telling an unfunny joke. Hair jokes are only funny when about Zanj or Jonjo.
Staged imo anyway. Will was laughing at the joke to start with. His "reaction" was after seeing his wife's face, and why the **** would you slap rather than punch? Lastly, if it was genuine, Will Smith is a ****ing pussy.

i thought the same but shouting "****ing" at the top of his voice at Rock a couple of times makes me doubt that and as for the "apology"
it was a second slap so imo the first was staged and the second was probably too but who knows. the sad thing is that this was supposedly some sort of cathartic moment where the oscars finally stopped being "racist" perhaps the pair worked out this to embarrass the Oscars but imo there'll be "people" thinking racist things about the two protagonists and this shows why you shouldn't give oscars out expect to "their type of people" If this didnt happen would we be talking about will smiths average performance in an average movie winning an oscar? maybe now we are talking about the big stunt.
I don't think it was staged, the tension seemed real enough afterwards and it doesn't fit with Will's image. Not sure why he laughed at first and then suddenly got so worked up though. Jada didn't take the joke well though by the look of it (and it was in poor taste).
Apparently there is a history of dislike between the two of them so probably not staged. Chris Rock is a little sh*t for making a joke about Smith's wife's hair when she suffers from Alopecia, especially at such a high profile event. At least when Ricky Gervais takes the piss at the awards ceremonies he makes a general comment, or if about an individual it is about their own behaviour, not just picking on someone's looks or illness.
I think it's de rigueur for audiences of any type to laugh at comedians whether they're funny or not, so perhaps they were just doing the automatic rictus thing until they realised it was actually offensive. Personally I have even less interest in celebrities than I do in football internationals (if that's possible) so I only saw a brief clip on the web. Sod 'em all. They live in an even more cloistered, self-congratulatory world than some footballers appear to.
Haven't watched only read, but presumably out of discomfort. Or maybe he did find it funny and then felt bad about laughing at it after seeing his wife's reaction. I don't know but, if you lack the self control to not get out of your seat and then not climb on stage and then not walk to the presenter and then not slap the presenter, you're a pretty lousy human being. Bad jokes in poor taste are part of the package for choosing a career in acting. Plenty of better things Will Smith could of done... Like mock Rock's tiny penis in an interview afterwards. My opinion of Will Smith has gone down significantly because of this. That was a pretty thuggish move and never really thought that about him in the past. Seems to be a trend on recent years, be it Kanye, or now Will Smith. Should just ban them for attending award shows in the future.
I thought I saw in the BBC website that there was a full clip of this thing and rock made some joke and stuck out his chin and there was a play slap and Smith sat back down at which point rock made a gi Jane joke and Smith got back up and rock side the same.pose and Smith smacked him again. I dunno though now.... maybe it was the same slap??
odd clip then. i'll have to go back nd look at it as rock looks to present a cheek to smith so.... looked fake to me.
Did Chris Rock know it was alopecia and not just a haircut? Would he know details like that? So it seems Will Smith is okay with his wife openly sleeping with other men but don't dare make a joke about her ...
