I note with disdain that johnson has half admitted the country is in the grip of a brexit induced zombie economy that was also hit by a covid meteorite strike.

Taxes about the fly up all over and of course he says he will do everything possible to avoid it. Which means it's going to be across the board as hes had to admit they are coming.

    Reap what you sew.

    pint please barkeep.

oh wait you don't have any?

    what? no delivery.

    ****ing tories.

one telling us theres loads of fuel in the depots but no drivers the other saying its a global crisis.

i dunno but i googled fuel crisis in europe and got a sky news thingy making out theres shortages of drivers everywhere.

I couldn't find anything about queues anywhere lese for some strange reason but could find masses of this stuff

    https://inews.co.uk/news/world/fuel...ol-station-shortages-no-plans-help-uk-1220873

    aka right wing propaganda.

Europe sees fuel crisis as result of Brexit and has no plans to ‘help the UK out of the s**t they created’

I think a lot of countries are suffering shortages of HGV drivers due to testing being suspended during Covid, but older drivers still retiring. The fuel shortage appears to be UK only due to some muppet from the RHA saying there would be one due to driver shortages which created mass panic buying. There would never have been a shortage otherwise. The RHA want the government to allow HGV drivers from abroad as they are cheaper to employ. Maybe the RHA members should just pay a decent wage!

I saw totally unrelated thing where poland actually got a big driver boost for some reason nobody can quite figure in the tory government.

i'm not sure exactly why there would not be a crisis though. there were empty stations starting before he mouthed off and if it was all down to panic then there was enough after a day or so every morons car was full to have all the stations back open.

It seems to me the RHA got exactly what they wanted. I'm hearing rumours of random drivers being stopped after deliveries and offered filthy levels of money to join the big retailers too.

The driver shortage is a long-term problem in several countries due to more people retiring than taking the job up. Germany for example is supposed to be 22,000 drivers short. It's been straining for a while now, but just about coping. Now Covid and Brexit have tipped the UK over the edge, and the panic-buying of fuel has highlighted the problem. Europe's not over the edge...yet.

Don't listen to politicians mate. There is plenty so long as you don't live in the south (they're still panic buying)

Just been able to get petrol for the first time in a week and a half. First 2 garages passed were both out of fuel and closed (and have been for days). Managed to get in the queue at Asda, about 15 cars ahead of me when i arrived. Many more than that when i left.

had the "low fuel" message on my car info screen as i rolled up to the pump.

Lots of garages in Shrewsbury have fuel. Seems it is just the south east causing their own problems with panic buying, they do seem very gullible down there in that there London!

Stil queues here. Not as bad but still quite a few stations with only 3 or 4 pumps operational at the moment.

Does seem like it’s London and south where biggest issues are. More people driving down here?

I've just had a great idea - why don't we get some of the Polish drivers to come over here and...

    Oh.

    Just more knob-ends. <ok>
Seriously though, the number of drivers shouldn't be a factor as the supply chain is geared to the usage pattern of that area.
It's when that pattern changes that problems arise. Or if there's a break in the supply chain, obviously.

I see the minister without a portfolio destroyed sunak with operation yellowhammer yesterday.

There was more spin than when Shane Warne bowled at muralitharan.

Two ardent liars hammering away about what is wrong

Campbell said: “I reread Operation Yellowhammer last night, which was a preparation by the government in the event of no-deal.

“Now you got a deal and you told us it was a great deal.

“This is what it warned of: disruption to channel crossings; delays for lorries entering the UK; delays on immigration; disruption to fuel supplies, fuelling panic buying; possibly public disorder; electricity price rises; delays to medicine supplies; reduction in supply of fresh foods; supermarket price rises; fishing wars; breakdown in law enforcement on data; which of those has not happened, and which of them has anything to do with Brexit?”

Sunak replied by claiming Campbell was particularly interested in Brexit, as a prominent Remainer.

You couldnt make this **** up.
