Had three cats reach about twenty and there is always so much life shared with those little lives. One had been with me when single met a few of my girlfriends, my now wife... With me when I got engaged, married, had three kids... Watched those kids grow, the eldest turn into a teenager. It's funny thinking the cats I have now might live long enough to see my grandchildren born, and Milner retire. We have a couple under a year old and my son is just a year or so younger than I was when I got my first cat that shared so much of my life.
The only thing to say about pets is to reflect on their long and happy lives compared to what they might be and appreciate the mutual happiness
We moved house in November and specifically bought somewhere on a cul-de-sac for the 3 cats as they weren't used to traffic. Since then 2 have died (cancer and diabetes/chronic bowel disease), the third also has a tumour and on its last legs. Having said that, i'm a dog person.
Was meant to go down to Cornwall and meet up with family - but the car didn't fancy it. They're getting windy about visitors again in the West Country so I might not make it at all this year. Will have to see.
They've got their own flag as well. WARNING: RHC look away now. My family roots are in France. When they came to this country they settled in Cornwall. I did an ancestry search a while ago and there are some of my family in church and parish record books there. I must still have family there that I don't know about. Some of them moved up to Wales when the tin mines in Cornwall were shutting down. My grandmother was Welsh. The other side of the family has Irish roots. Mongrels all of us
I suppose the tourist industry begrudgingly accepts visitors - it's similar in most places I suppose.
I found the ancestry search absolutely fascinating. It was a very basic search following one line through. I got as far back as late 1700's. I may go into it again when I've got a proper computer.
