Man U fans here in York where I work have been sound, tbh. In fact, my next door neighbour, a united season-ticket holder, gave me shout over the garden fence @ 10.30 last night complete with a chilled bottle of San Miguel, that went down in a flash tbh, even though I was back up again at 4am this morning.
Tbf apart from the most bitter of bitter twats everyone accepts that this season we were in a different class to anyone else in the league . Plus they have had months to get used to the fact
On that very note - Utd fan in peace. Deserved Champions, scintillating football at times - well done.
I'd normally merge threads when there are multiple versions of the same thing... not a chance with this!
Didn't want to put this in the celebration thread. It's really disappointing to see some idiot fans gathering at the Pier Head and setting off fireworks. Outside the ground was bad enough. It's hard to talk about the social distancing when BLM mass gatherings have been allowed and not challenged by the mayor or the police. I don't know why a small number have to spoil it for everyone. It also doesn't help when people like Jonathan Walters are tweeting about what a disgrace that fans are aiming fireworks at the Liver building just because it's lit up blue. It's lit up red, white and blue for armed forces day. It is a disgrace but not for the totally made up reason he suggests. I hope this is the last such 'celebratory display' until the official one which, if it was possible, these idiots would be banned from.
My take on this is that what happened outside Anfield on Thursday night was completely inevitable, likely somewhat planned and somewhat spontaneous. It was a joyous, uplifting and largely respectful gathering, as respectful as a gathering of thousands of people can be right now. So, whilst I don't think that gathering could exactly be condoned, it also can't be condemned, it's an understandable reaction, especially given the nature of this title win for us and the fact that other gatherings have been taking place, i.e. BLM stuff, ****tards packing out beaches. It would've happened from the fans of whichever club had won the league this season and I'd say the same thing. Can't condone it, can't condemn it, so it's one free pass. What happened last night down at the ferry terminal was unacceptable and actually disgraceful due to some vile and disgustingly loutish behaviour, the fact that it's a second mass gathering, and through how the place was treated and the filthy state the place was left in covered in litter, drink, vomit and urine. Once was enough for now, perhaps too much, so this was completely inappropriate and excessive.
I just always wonder what it must be like for anyone who lives one or two streets away from the ground and has absolutely no interest in football
I agree with this although I still don't think having been appealed to by the club, players and manager, that fans should have gathered outside Anfield. I fully understand it but still wish it hadn't have happened in such a large number. I suppose it meant one mass gathering in the city rather than lots. The second part shows you feel the same as me about last night's awful episode. I refrain from writing graphic details just because they are picked up and run with and a Chinese whisper effect takes place and the next thing you know someone, having read a few details, enlarges on that and it's being reported that fans are rioting, urinating on each other and burning down buildings. We know because we are still living with Hillsborough truth deniers amongst us who only want to believe the worst. And that leads me on to the point that whatever else has occurred during lockdown restrictions, ie. BLM protests, overcrowded beaches, streets around beaches being left filthy, murder in parks etc. etc. you know that the football fans who met and let off fireworks, one of which hit a building, will be vilified forever and regarded as special kind of monsters, added to which they are from Liverpool which makes them ten times worse than your average idiot fan - right? We've got more than enough historical evidence to prove this. So I agree with what you say and share your disgust but stop short of details because you're helping to lynch yourself when you do that.
No news outlets picked up the story but there are several videos of Liverpool fans out this morning helping to clean up the mess left by their inconsiderate counterparts.
I can feel myself going down a path I don't really want to. Someone tell me about a bike ride or a garden gnome or something ......
Seen lots on social media with images of fans helping to clean up. Again, I'd help out had I been there. Just bought (well, the mrs did) some plants for the front garden; white, purple and orange colour scheme so far She never plans ahead, just bus what she likes and chucks it together. Really had to reign her in when we renovating the house
Bit similar to us with the addition of having to know the name of a rose or a paint colour before buying it. When we painted our living room walls we wanted as neutral a colour as possible that wasn't white. We looked at getting a shade of cream. Well there were about 25 shades that were pretty much all the same so we embarked on choosing which had the best name.
Grey is the new beige - or something like that ie. anything goes with it. Orange sounds good too. I'm not the best at choosing colour schemes, I just know what I don't like together.
