Trouble is, he's the one I do martial arts with and also the one that likes football. It's the other two I need more in common with <laugh>

Youngest is only six so too young for taking him cycling ten miles. Middle one came with me the first time but fell off and now won't go again <doh>

I'm a jedi with Lego mate, they're no longer interested in it though. All the middle child wants to do is swimming, can't di that atm. Youngest will say yes to anything but be fed up within a couple of minutes

Six years age difference isn't that much (your eldest and middle?) expect atm when you want to do an outdoor activity together if they don't both like the same things. Time to get inventive. Ours have very different personalities and likes, music tastes, clothes styles etc. even as youngsters but luckily they both love football, basketball and running which you can do in different ways anywhere you want to go. They loved those eye spy books where you go out spotting cars or wildlife or things (depending on where you live and what you are likely to see)like a person on a horse or a tractor.

They're 12 (almost 13), 10 & 6 and not in anyway similar. Only thing they have in common is their line if computer games <doh>

Actually met a polite cyclist today when out with the dog . Some little kid on a bile was wobbling down the path towards us so called Poppy and had her sit near path so as not to disturb him . The dad said nowt but the kid went " Thank you Dog"

Had some bits to fo for work that would have taken 3-4 days to do at home, thought it would be easier to just go into the office and smash them all in one day.

Went on the bike; opted for the short easier route there (bottom image) leaving the slightly longer tougher route (top image) for the return journey ...

... can't actually believe I got back 10mins quicker!!! There are two steep hills on the way back that I dropped down to first gear and crawled for too, was smashing the rest in 27th mind ;)

I didn't get anything to eat before going, nor did I take my wallet and had nothing there to eat (been closed 6 almost 7 weeks!). I did that return journey whilst starving <laugh>

Remember this like it was yesterday. The build up that MacDonald was going to tear us apart, and then the reality.

Got out on the bike earlier this evening ... 15 mile ride with some intervals and fairly big efforts. I need to get a new power meter. A rolling route, flat mixed with a few decent bumps and a beautiful evening out ... the temp was perfect, short sleeve jersey with arm warmers which I should've taken off, no base layer needed. Most motorists were respectful and courteous but a couple of dumbasses stood out, one completely unnecessary close pass and one utterly senseless woman who thought it would be great to try an overtake as we approached a pedestrian island ... she had to back out of that pretty quickly once she realised bike and car don't go, a total coma case, her, not me thankfully. I'm going to take one of my aero wheels to be trued tomorrow as the bike shop nearby is open, it got buckled in a crash a while back and has just been sitting around. Riding music of choice ... architects.

The cycling culture is funny. Roadies 99% of the time will give each other a nod of the head or a hand flick or something when they pass on opposite sides of the road and quite often say something polite or pithy on overtakes. Everyone who isn't a proper roadie to the roadies are just bodies on bikes and don't warrant the same courtesy or respect :emoticon-0114-dull:<laugh> and those people don't normally instigate any kind of salutation anyway. If you're a road cyclist you don't need to interact with people too much anyway for obvious reasons, just watch out for anyone crossing etc. A few weeks ago I was out riding and this woman had decided to jog in the middle of the lane while her partner was on the pavement, she clearly didn't see me for a while, had loads of time to look and maybe get back on the pavement, and when she did it didn't register how fast I was coming at her so I had to be the one looking after the situation, she was the yoga pants sports bra type bouncing along doing basically an elaborate walk, partner in his muscle vest with the guns on display. If these people put more effort into the actual exercise and being more sensible than what they're wearing and how they look it would make life easier

On a similar vein to ljcpower yesterday when out with the dog we ended up following a woman who was the epitome of that distinct sub set of joggers i term "waddlers" .

On anther front on the way to my mums to drop off some eggs i sa some wench was wandering around in a bikini top and tiny daisy dukes and it seemed appropriate this was blasting out of my car

Ok so I thought I'd get into this with you (and maybe others) but in a friendly way

I ****ing hate cyclists on the road and think they should be banned. <cheers>

My side of this is that no matter how slow you go or how much room you try to give there's always a risk of danger maybe not from the car passing but cars in the opposite direction or just the fact that if you're really careful then you could go miles without being able to pass as they are too slow to be on a road.

There should be more cycle paths made so that cyclists can ride safely without holding up traffic or the risk of an accident.

    I await your wrath.

Roads are for cyclists too, we all have to share and look out for each other :emoticon-0142-happy

It's one point of view, I don't think it's safe to cycle on roads. Going to be many who disagree with me.
