It was never the most exciting but H&S as made it much duller. Narrow tracks, more corners and smaller engines, etc
This is partly my point. It's vaguely disturbing to watch something that is only enlivened by disaster.
I gave up on F1 about five years ago. I used to love it but it got a bit boring for me too. Still better than cricket or "one man and his dog" (do they still show that), but it's become too stale now. I still follow the news and keep up to date, but couldn't be bothered watching the races anymore.
Is it a sport? Or a game? Sure it requires a lot of skill, but so does poker. Athletic ability required is not very high although does require physical dexterity. I put it alongside things like Golf, darts and Baseball as somewhere between a true sport and just a game.
Baseball "just a game"? Try playing it. It's a mathematical wonder, evolved into a carefully balanced perfection of the diamond's dimensions, creating high drama of players running between bases and the strategy of throwing between bases at great speed to try to run them out. The psychological battle between pitcher and batter. The subterfuge of sneaking off the base you're on as the pitcher winds up to try to steal a base. Pth, just a game. Like football is just a game of passing a ball and kicking it between some sticks. Dictionary.come defines sport as "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc." If you want to play a game, try Monopoly or Cluedo.
